indeed. 600 rpm semi auto 4HK in long range is a joke. crap semi auto is a very sad and bad thing ... 3HK (Ghosts 3 semis) is crap, 4HK is ... for HC only. 25 min damage semi auto is useless in HC because we have 30 health, so it's a 2HK. 1000+ RPM SMGs kill in 2 hits in HC.... so do pistols.

^ tks, I know, I play HC almost exclusively now,
nevertheless MK14 is better in HC: OVERALL: than in core, just IMO = it does not feel complete PoS in mid-long ranges.
/= if anyone cares about cammo challenges for AR/MK14 - should play HC I think or core-CQC only/
if you ask me: I do not touch MK14, no cares, 34 min dmg or fu SH.
real buff is needed here ... or maybe MK14 is a "cammo challenge" for AR class ...

I don't find the MK14 bad...just needs a buff with every other gun. I'm just tired of seeing BAL (insert variant here) or AK(insert variant here) in the kill feed exclusively. There's no reason every gun needs these crippling attributes when you have two guns that have none.

Its too bad, since it has the nice M14 recoil style of almost nothing but up :/ Except.. without the strength. That would be a nice bonus until you realize every other assault rifle has no recoil. And no sway. This game is just begging everyone to use the same thing. Bal-27

just make the BAL a 5-6 hit kill and give the HBR some recoil. AK is 4-5 with low RoF so i think low recoil is justifiable

Gawssshhhh To be fair, BO2 definitely had the best weapon balance. Agreed on buffing all the weak guns though in AW. Let's see how sledgehammer games buffs the xmgs, a weapon that literally everyone has said needs a buff. From there we can gauge if they want to make the game weapon balanced like BO2 or if they only want to appeal to the "normal" fan base.

Gawssshhhh Every gun sucks, why would you want to make the Bal suck too? Some SMGs desperately need buffs, the hell use is the AMR9 or whatever? 5 round burst SMG with 5-7 bullets to kill? The Thompson (whatever its real name is) is glitched at least on PS3, the 3HK range is small and the 4HK is literally less than 10 units. I'd rather all guns be good then all guns suck, if the TTK were even longer than it'd be like Halo, if I wanted to play Halo I would have bought an Xbox. EDIT just make the BAL a 5-6 hit kill and give the HBR some recoil. AK is 4-5 with low RoF so i think low recoil is justifiable HBRa3 has recoil, it's just foregrip is just that good.

I'm not the one who coded it to go from 3HK-5HK almost instantaneously. It mocks itself.

No, it's instant drop off, the 4 HK range is just microscopic.

The base guns are pretty much awful which is why the variants were added. A +3 damage variant is literally a game changer. It can make a gun seemingly unstoppable. Thats why they want you to keep playing to grind out supply drops for the elite variants. Look up the arx steel bite, +3 damage is pretty much ridiculous compared to the vanilla version. Get an imr with +fire rate and +damage and you have a killing machine. Its all about the variants, not the base stats.

That is equivalent to having overpowered guns unlocked at high levels....

The people that get the ridiculous elite variants did nothing at all to earn it. It's like winning the cod lottery. In past cods at least you knew you were going up against people with the same level weapons. Now 1 person with an elite can run a lobby into the ground. The playing field is not level at all unless everyone has elite variants.

I wouldn't say variants have that big an impact. Sure some stats might be better but I don't think one lucky guy with a good variant is going to "run a lobby into the ground" only because of his weapon.
No footsteps and small maps with these exo movements = people die from behind constantly. Your weapon has nothing to do with that.

To be fair, BO2 definitely had the best weapon balance. Yes, definitely. And the weapons had personality. AW would be a lot better if they'd just lifted the BOII guns and dropped them straight in. With the ARs, I feel that AW doesn't really give much choice. If you like fully-auto you really only have one choice if you want 3HK - the BAL. I've tried the HBR quite a lot, I really wanted to love it, and it has significantly more recoil and significantly worse irons than the BAL, and the initial rate of fire just isn't high enough - needs to go up to maybe 750-800 RPM; I guess they've worried too much about making it a close-range monster. I'm not into 4HK ARs - lose too many close-quarters gunfights - so the AK is out of it for me. I'd try the MK but the damage is way too low, and the recoil is a bit high, given that it takes considerably more skill than the automatic rifles. And I've never got on well with burst weapons. The solution to the BAL would be to give it a bunch of recoil; something like BOII SCAR. Hold your finger on the trigger, with a ROF increase after a few shots, and the gun ought to be kicking like a mule. You shouldn't be able to hold your finger on the trigger for mid-to-long-range engagements, only up close.

Weird, I got the copy of BO2 where everyone agreed the AN-94 and FAL were the best ARs, and the PDW was far and away the best SMG for most of the game's lifespan. I wish I could have played the version you guys got, it sounds great.

Doesn't seem as agreed as you claim other than the AN-94 being high-tier. The guns were close enough that in pubs the only highly used gun was the AN-94.

Should see if you can get a refund for having a defective copy.

Haters gonna hate, but I liked MW3's weapons, at the very least, each class had fun options. MP7 and the Super Soaker, Type 95, ACR, FAD (in the post patch era), MK14. Akimbo FMGs. A lot of the snipers were usable, I remember the shotguns being pretty fun with the right proficiencies (Range mostly?). That plus dem specialist buffs. Yup, MW3 was awesome.
FAL in BO2 at all times.

I'm guessing this is sarcastic, but I actually quite liked the weapon balance in MS2. ACR was super duper consistent but weak as puke. The SCAR was probably the best all around AR, but was hindered by a small mag and could be bested by a good player with a Tar. Really everything seemed like it had some niche or another. There were even nuances between the M16 and FAMAS that could argue for either being better suited to a particular role. (Granted the M16's main use was the holo sight stats being different, but hey it worked.) Really I felt like the only UP weapons were the FN2000 and the post-patch 1887's. I suppose you could include the masterkey, but it was just an attachment so meh. Toobs were a bit OP once everybody built a OMA/DC class, but if IW hadn't imploded by then that could have been patched. And of course panic knife + commando was a thing, but not really weapon balance...

I doubt Mouse was being sarcastic: MW2 definitively had the best weapon balance in any CoD. Killstreaks and perks were a mess though. F2000, 1887s, Uzi, and Intervention were underpowered, but everything else had clearly defined niches.
