Guys, I found the inspiration for Advanced Warfare's foot step audio balance:
Hahahaha, so true.
DS was shit because of sitrep and its popularity.
Stalker was by far the most used perk. Sitrep wasn't used enough to justify Dead Silence being useless. Use it and the players without Sitrep were easy. Plus, the Pro effect was great for mobile players.
Steady aim had virtually no purpose outside of shotguns (which afaic labels it niche)
That's so incorrect. I don't know what you're style of play is (or was in MW3 to be specific), but you clearly don't know the importance of the Pro effect. The main effect is justa bonus. I don't know how anyone can say it doesn't help the other guns. LMGs have bad hipfire and slow raises from sprint. They benefit the most. Assault rifles are not as bad obviously, but they're no subs, so SA Pro helps a lot. Sniper rifles can be raised sooner if caught in the open. Subs become even deadlier than they already are (they actually make the standard perk effect competitive), run around nonstop hipfiring people continuously. With both effects, it's straight up the best perk I the third tier in terms of actually affecting the soldier/character.
Stalker is superior on every other weapon the vast majority of the time.
Only for those who have their left finger surgically attached to the trigger. Those who spend a good 50% or more aiming down the sights instead of aiming when necessary. Steady Aim is superior on every gun (LMGs love Stalker, but SA does even more for them).
Marksman's only saving grace was that it occasionally worked through a fucking wall but it only worked at specific parts of specific maps and doesn't hold a candle to SRP.
Marksman increased in usage over time. I want to say it almost had replaced Stalker at one point for the go-to typical player third perk (you know, the trash with the silenced, gold ACR, moving slow and hiding for their helicopters). Allows them to sit back and not move far for the entire match.
It's certainly not terrible. I never select it for any class (including Specialist chains), but it's one of the more welcome additions when you get your bonus. It's usable on every map.
SRP was its own wallhack, and their utility overlapped a bit, but I think that SRP's precise omnidirectional radar and ability to work through any wall (and not to mention see equipment through walls as well) was more useful than seeing the small group of players which marksman would reveal but sitrep wouldnt.
Flat out better than Stalker. There's no comparison. More players run without Dead Silence than those with it. Also, seeing equipment through walls is very underrated. Obviously better than Marksman too, but that's beside the point.
