Oh I get it know. For some reason I was reading Kotaku as Otaku, should've not included random peoples replies, especially when they're chronologically after the developers response.

Social justice warriors and 3rd wave feminists, the Feminazi's, are adorable. This is a good development; those who say nothing are consenting to madness.

I always love when companies have a good laugh at these ridiculous protests. If you don't consume someone's stuff to begin with, how is a boycott going to affect them?

I mean, in their position I wouldn't be surprised if the SJWs had zero influence. There was a Jimquisition on this recently; it's likely that all of this is being done in a more subtle effort to drum up consumer-based marketing. When everyone learns about this controversy Techmo will eventually chime in and put up the game for retail without having to spend a dime on advertising.

I won't deny that this could very well be a case of Tecmo legitimately pulling their game because they feel they don't want negative press from the West. Still, I'm convinced that Jim may have a point worth salvaging, and Vae Victus may be too quick to pull a fallacy fallacy.
The thing about Jim Sterling is that he's so used to discussing bad business practices and what makes them so. He sees what Dead or Alive's PR team says, and he looks past it. He's seen a litany of PR team shenanigans, and while he's not a journalist he knows what a company planning to go sour looks like. This is one of those instances. The confusion kicks in when Sterling presents his argument through satire. He's a pundit reknowned to cover things that get in the way of making games good in the gaming industry, not things that might get in the way. The use of satire implies that he's certain that Tecmo is pulling the saddle over everyone's eyes when really that may not be remotely true.
Meanwhile Vae Victis is mostly looking at what DOA's public relations team is saying and taking them at their word. Maybe they're telling the truth, and that's what Vae is assuming in his video. His arguments can quickly be diminished if DOA's PR team ends up having alterior motives, but even then we only have motives to believe that to be the case. Of course, there's also the possibility that he could be right. Maybe SJWs are influencing companies to not sell their games in the West. That's a scary thought. If that's true it may be a good cause to open the line for discussion- though when/if that happens is yet to be known.
There are several points where Vae Victis quotes "Jimquisition: Monster Boobs And Plastic Children". Jim's arguments there are pretty weak as of three years ago, and that's a long time in the YouTube world. Sterling is essentially arguing that the stylization of boobs physics in DOA games are weird... and that's it. He doesn't really focus on why, and that's kind of been par for the course in Japanese culture. Jim's mostly in the wrong on that topic simply because Japanese gaming companies should have every right to tailor their games as they see fit for their home demographic first. That video got a load of downvotes.
Again, this situation can go either way, and both videos have a point. The problem with this discussion is that there's no way to tell what Tecmo is doing right now, and there's no way of telling if Tecmo will change their mind. If they do change their mind, would it be because of Jim's prediction? If they don't, will another game have to follow suit to refire this discussion?
