AW made me dislike the future pew pew jumpy jumpy combat, Activision allowing Sledgehammer, Treyarch, AND Infinity Ward to make pew pew spaceman laser jetpack futuristic games was a boneheaded decision. Back when it released CoD4 was a big time jump from the last three games, but just in case it tanked Treyarch was working on the status quo FPS of the mid-2000's, a WWII shooter. Hopefully the rumor is true, and Sledgehammer is working on a Vietnam CoD. Then just let Raven make modern era games, have IW support them, and give Treyarch free reign to do whatever they want. BO3 was a great game, even with the future crap.

IW is a better BO3. Or at the very least I got tired of BO3.
And complaining about the NV4 is unreasonable. It kills in 4 shots at 606 RPM.
It sounds like the experience on xbox is poor compared to PS4. Frame drops on Mayday as another example.

Is anyone else not getting the combat focus challenge with hard-line in certain game modes? In TDM with hard-line I get 250 per kill for 500 points with a double kill but it doesn't seem to register. Works in other game modes...

I've been doing that challenge wrong. Here I am hoping for a triple in a limited time because I'm not running hardline.

Apparently, they gave 500 salvage today for their winter promo.

They've given out 60 keys and 700 salvage total so far, as well as a couple of guns in addition to the cosmetic stuff.

Yeah I have another 4,000 finally. Got nothing to spend it on though as I have no Epic variants with the rare and legendary precursors unlocked. Oh well, at least I have the R3kt. That gun is awesome.
Has anyone tried th Smoothbore Rack-9? If it's like the Argus I'm in.

I have bought a few guns, but right now I am just sitting on 2,100 salvage points . . . .and am unwilling to spend them. It's taken me almost a month to get this amount. Lots of grinding. It's to much of a risk to just go buy a variant, without knowing how well it will work. What if the gun sucks? I am out of month of grinding. Ouch!!!! Again, most Legendary and Epic variants are 2,000 and 4,000 points. One can do the math. There are other twenty plus guns in this game, each with Legend and Epic versions (some have two). Setting aside freebies, one would need almost 140,000 salvage points to try all of them.
And I have 2,000.
What a fvcking stupid system in place. Epic level retardedness. 'If' I continue to play this game, I am looking at continual grinding to maybe be able to buy like two to four more guns. That's it.
Of course...I can always go and just buy CoD points. Shell out hundreds and hundreds of dollars, to boost up my winnings and salvage points. Which is probably what activision wants from me.
I seriously would like to punch every one of those game designers right in the face. No joking there. I hate these people. With that, I would HAPPILY buy 1,000 CoD points if I could get 2 minutes on the mat with these assholes, and snap their arms or legs. That would be money well spent.
My big question for 2016 is this.....who do I hate more? The retards who designed Destiny and designed a game where one could play 500+ hours and never win the games best gun (a gun that was NEEDED to do some things solo)...or the scam artists at Call of Duty whose only life goal is try to try and pry money out of people's pockets.
Not a good year for gaming. I'm not a happy gamer.

I agree it's risky to shell out 4000 on an epic. I've only done it for the KBS harbinger, and I'm not sure if I've bought any legendaries. Before the harbinger, I had 11k salvage because I wasn't sure what to buy.
The big inhibition for me is not that the gun will suck, but rather, what if I would have gotten it in a supply drop. The duplicate redemption is a laughable amount.
I think it's a better deal to buy the rares and commons. Some of them are pretty good.
The only epic guns that are interesting to me are snipers and pistols. I am eyeing the EBR purple nuke variant right now.

I went ahead and spent my salvage on the Smoothbore. It's pretty great, if you like shotguns. Basically an argus, but it can headshot at infinite distance which is fun on some maps, like Genesis or Frontier. Much rage, very wow.
The only other gun I spent salvage on is the R3KT. Another great gun. All my other epics are from packages or mission teams. I think I have like 6 or 7 now. I agree the salvage dupe redemption amount is absolutely pitiful and basically a joke. They need to add a zero to their redemption numbers to make it even close to fair.
I also agree that it is basically better to just wait and see if you get the gun you want from earned keys, before spending any salvage. Especially if what you want is locked behind a 2000 salvage pre-req or something.
So far I am waiting to buy rares with 30 keys, rather than spending 10 on commons. This seemed to pay off more in BO3 but I wonder if the math works the same in IW. I earn about 3 keys per game which means about 1 rare crate per night, for me, plus whatever they give me for the freebie of the day.

^I'd wait. They haven't rolled out with the key promo offers yet. You don't want to miss out on something that'll be set at 500 that you can't afford.
I only load this pile of shit to collect the login bonus. I may play one match every few days or once a week. Always end up shutting it off due to bullshit. Still only level 37 unprestiged. Have 2000 keys. Maybe can afford an epic a few months down the line. Might just run this as a test to see how long it'll take.

If you hate the game why bother collecting guns/keys/salvage etc? Sounds like torture.
In other news, I hate the re-introduction of nukes. People chase them in domination. Lost two matches tonight, with one bozo going like 50-3 both times or something with 1 cap both games (he got one nuke) and we lost both times. And they were both very close games where just one or two more caps would have won it for us. So frustrating.

Geez some of the rig challenges are hard. I'm at 18/25 for the combat focus one, and it's really irritating to do while doing snipers and shotguns for gun challenges. I think you have to do the challenge without hardline. Hardline and 2x kills doesn't get me progress. The time window is pretty short.
And it's not even among the hardest. I'm at 0 for 3x bull charge as well as kill 3 with one gravity gun thingy. Challenges should be hard, but still enjoyable... It's no fun if no progress is made at all.

Here's the annoying thing: challenges are bugged. Like, lots of them.
Combat focus works with hardline, it's just bugged in some game modes. It works in frontline for sure. Not in TDM.
Gravity gun sometimes does not register. Bull charge sometimes does not register. Picking up gun challenges (e.g., kills with an epic pick up) sometimes does not register. Carpet bomb only works with scorchers, no other aerial kill streak. (Super kill with the Apex? No triple kill medal for you!) Low blow medals sometimes do not count towards the gun camo slide kill challenge. Primary gun + secondary gun kill sometimes does not register. Ping challenge flat out did not work at all for a while. Probably some others I am forgetting. And updates/patches seem to be few and far between. (But we get quartermaster updates! Oooh goody.) SUPER lame. Oh and Mayday still runs at 30 fps. Sad!

I'm not sure about pick up gun challenges being bugged; I've completed them all. Triple kills with bombardment should count; I feel like I've gotten them, but I'm not sure.
You do need to stay alive while your microturret gets two kills to get a notch towards 2 kills in one microturret use. I feel like it didn't start out like that. It's all very inconsistent.

The challenges count, they just don't count all the time and for arbitrary buggy reasons. For instance on Reddit there was discussion that for one of the pick up gun challenges, you had to equip a secondary and exchange it, rather than just pick up a second weapon for it to count. Silly things like that.
I know the bombardment triple kill did not register, as I had a game where I was very pleased with myself for getting 2 triple kill medals with it, and lo and behold it did not register. You see the medal but it doesn't count in the challenge. That's when I knew there was a problem. I started trying out different air streaks to see what would work and confirmed this also does not work with the Trinity rocket and Apex. (Reddit also has a thread on this as well.) Which is too bad because triples are fairly easy with the Apex. Maybe they fixed it recently? I only got it to work with scorchers. I had a few triples before I knew there was a problem so I don't know if wardens and vultures count.

I'm at 7/10 with the 4 kills in one reaper use. The much-maligned reaper is actually very fun to use, with how smooth knifing is in this game.
I was even able to take advantage of being able to get a kill after the game ends to complete one instance of the challenge. The fact that the game continues a bit after it ends is a nice touch.

If you hate the game why bother collecting guns/keys/salvage etc? Sounds like torture. It's only in hopes that maybe some random weapon I can scrap up later on can maybe make the game better. I'm not one to buy games (maybe two or three a year), so have to keep giving reps to this bullshit. Definitely regret not getting BF1. Hearing that game's not too bad.

Some good changes: we can see all our shiny medals now, and the Warden can now be taken out with 3 missiles. (One to dispose of flak, two to take it down, as opposed to previously you needed four total shots which made it stronger than a Thor which was dumb.) You can now also see all of your gun attachments, which before they weirdly did not let you see beyond the first few seconds of spawning. (Maybe that changed before but I didn't notice it until tonight.)
And leaderboards are up. But they're sort of confusing as you only are ranked if you're on the top 10,000 in a given game mode. If you're not, you're ranked by... I don't know. It says "Top [X]." Then gives you basic stats. No lobby leaderboards, which was the main way you could really assess yourself against the competition.
Also they added a Combat Records...Coming Soon tab! Hilarious.
Also double weapon and double xp for a week, plus a ridiculous "hyper TDM" mode where you earn your payload 7x faster.

Such a blatant disrespect to the users. They're doing the rank bullshit so we won't see the actual number of accounts on the game. But they spew out PR bullshit about testing a new ranking system like it's since serious shit, tryin to fool everybody. Guess the holidays didn't boost the base up enough to where they felt they could show it to us. I imagine maybe a handful of them actually working while the other 80 or so just play ping pong and drink hipster trash coffee all day and blog about it.
The only mildly interesting thing out of the update is the Hyper TDM. Might actually do a match or two tonight. Sounds like a total shield and blackhole spam fest though. What else is good? That claw? Some of the weapons affect the payload to I think, so even more uses.

I think I was wrong about the Warden, still takes 4 missiles or 3 + half an LMG clip. It's harder to take down than a Thor, which makes no sense to me.

I've now gotten a handle on all of the maps. My fun-scale rating:
Fun: Terminal Frontier Throwback Precinct Frost Genesis
Average: Grounded Breakout Retaliation
Sucky: Crusher (this map really is a maze, even after you learn it well.) Scorched Skydock
Special mention: Mayday, which is still unplayable on Xbox One due to 30 fps or lower frame rate drops all over the map. Would otherwise be in the "Fun" tier.

Yeah Crusher is not a great map. I like to run a silenced shotty on that one, run around been the most annoying ass I can be.
