From what I gather, the only advantage the sawn-off gives is +5 damage, which isn't enough to kill any more efficiently than before. But then there's less range and worse hip spread, so I dunno, maybe I'm missing something?

the damage against juggernaut I think is 33.5 or something like that for every buckshot. So you can kill a Juggy with 3 of them hitting and don't need 4 like with the regular one... eh

I guess the hardcore thing sort of makes sense, besides the whole using a shotgun in hardcore thing. the damage against juggernaut I think is 33.5 or something like that for every buckshot. So you can kill a Juggy with 3 of them hitting and don't need 4 like with the regular one... eh I forgot about WaW having a slightly different Juggernaut, that explains it. Thanks.

Actually in Hardcore, Overkill is a viable option (though I'd take Camouflage) and one could take the Sawn Off Shotgun and a Springfield, PTRS or Kar for example.
Also, that extra five damage is applied to all 8 of the shells I think. So you're actually getting 40 more damage in total... I think... I can't remember...

Well yeah, but it's not a matter of total damage, but how many bullets you need for a kill. Against a normal opponent you'd still need 3 of 8 to hit, 5 damage won't change that.
