They weren't as bad in the demo.
Now 1/2 of every player is a recon. And every recon managed to level up yesterday when everyone was still low and now has that sniper tracking scope. So it's impossible to be a recon because other recons instantly see you.
Wow that class alone is taking so much joy out of this game for me.

I did notice there were alot of snipers when i was playing last night. But it never seemed to bean overwhelming number, its mostly annoying when your attacking and everyone just sits and snipes the defenders at their leasure with no regard to overcoming the M-COM.
what is the recon tracking scope???

If you are having trouble sniping just whip out your tommygun. Its not the greatest but its good enough to get you through times when you're getting out- sniped (while leveling recon).

My copy came in early!!! And I noticed the exact same thing. Everyone who isn't in a squad seems to think Recon is the way to go. I didn't have anybody online to play with, so I was alone, too. I try playing the objective and you're right you either get lit up by the snipers or they spot you and someone else gets you (on a side not spotting seems spotty compared to the demo...?). So what I ended up doing was countersniping, which meant I could get my revenge, but it wasn't very winnable. Then I noticed they got a helicopter up. I switched to a [whatever class has RPGs] and quickly learned that [the thing that makes rockets lock on] is not very viable against helicopters (although I did get a couple). So between whole squads spawning in sniper towers and constant enemy helicopters, I felt pretty locked down. On top of that, they had an actual squad playing the objective, and my team didn't. I felt completely helpless. I don't know if I will ever play this game by myself again. Full squad=necessity.

I don't understand all the anti-recon hatred.
I think it's neat.
Mostly, it seems just like no FPS I've ever played has ever had sniping this fun and lots of people aren't used to that, so they don't like it. In COD, you have some players who snipe exclusively and some players who never snipe. In BC2, there is no choice: Sometimes you can't snipe because it's not good for the team. Other times, you have to snipe to take objectives and kill enemy snipers. People don't like this.

problem is: a ton of idiots keep sniping even if it's no use for the team, so you have half your team contributing NOTHING to the team goal.

It's starting to get a little better. Now that I know what the Spotting Scope actually does I know that i was simply outsniped previously ...
But now its only about 1/3 snipers, instead of what should be 1/4. Or even less, snipers contribute the least out of all the classes to the team (at least on offense).

I don't think the spotting scope is worth it, because it rarely does anything. The only possible benefit is that it seems to let you spot people for longer and more at one time.
