On rush attackers, I find my squad naturally spawns on me when I'm playing recon. It works out well when there's an assault in my squad because I'm generally situated behind the last bit of cover before an M-COM, and they supply me with constant motion mines so we always know what's happening up ahead. I can cover our spawn point well because the 50 cal's OHK range is so huge (haven't used a scope besides ACOG about since I got the GOL, I think). Plus, once my teammates set a charge I make sure I have a clear view to drop an inital mortar strike and then finish anyone off afterwards with a one-two sniper-pistol combo.
I'd imagine the medic would be the next best thing, but he's so much more suited at being just next to the rest of his teammates to drop health packs, and reviving people can sometimes put you at risk, losing your spawn point altogether.

Recon: SVU - ACOG Enhanced Explosives
They cant hear you to hunt you down and you can throw sensors so your guys know where they are hiding to defend the M-Com. Also there is nothing like a mortar strikes, silent sniper fire, and 3 other guys bouncing around the enemy spawn to keep their interest off the people arming the M-Coms and focused on killing them.
