lol @ above, why in hell would you choose an UMP if you allready have a decent gun for long range and have SP? just go for any other SMG then.... but Fam16+MP5 + mara,SP,Ninja seems to be a very nice deal! but still, a shotgun is soo lovely.... yes, i completely understand that. the biggest reason is that i like guns and setups that work well all the time without having to switch. like a stopping power tar with ninja pro is good in the large majority of situations. or marathon/lw/commando with ump is good because you can knife out of sprint around corners and the ump, even with lw, is moderate to good at other ranges. back to my choices, i originally thought of an mp5k extended mags secondary, which certainly fits nicer and looks prettier, i just don't think it's better in practice, since you miss out on long range kills with the mp5k and are bad in cqb with the m16 out, no matter how hard you try to manipulate encounters. so 'lol' i guess for picking two of the best (and arguably the two best) weapons in the game even if it doesn't look and fit so pretty on paper

Ok, now that we're getting into "riot shield on my back" territory, there's a new assumption. Your movement speed isn't solely that of your primary. Instead, it's some kind of average of your two weapons. Handguns and machine pistols are rated at SMG speed, shotguns at AR speed and what the heck, to mix things up, launchers move at LMG speed (nerf bat to RPG spammers).
I never noticed before, but you definitely ADS walk slower with a shotgun than an SMG, so I don't see any reason that would be a nerf. Shotguns ADS like ARs, machine pistols and handguns ADS like SMGs. (Taking into account your overall movement speed might be slower)
So if you go TAR/Riot Shield, you move more or less at LMG speed.

I'd go Riot Shield primary, riot shield secondary. And I'd walk around like a turtle. Then I'd take Ninja Pro as Perk 3 and be a Ninja Turtle ;D

(just duck behind anything) if you dont have the time to get away, you would have been death anyway with an UMP.... the problem with an UMP with SP is that it does not kill fast enough in close range all the time, the MP5 wins allot of fights against a shotgun, because you are REALLY REALLY fast if you hit 2 bullets. but the UMP makes that slower again... I would actually even prefer akimbo M9 then, over the UMP. it just doesn't kill fast enough up close to be a real SMG

i've always had a lot of success in cqb with a ump silenced with stopping power, even if that's not the most popular setup.
one of the reasons i really like it is it's fine to silence it, whereas the mp5k pretty much has to be used with fmj or extended mags since hitting 4 times with it at mid range or beyond just isn't very realistic.
m16 holo + mp5k extended mags very well might be a better combination, especially when factoring in raise/drop times (ump has a long drop time), it's sort of like an upgraded version of the m16 holo + pp2000 combination.
so maybe the mp5k would be a better compliment, but the vector or the other smgs.... i definitely don't agree with. they're way too underpowered.
regardless, the m16 holo + ump combination is one i actually end up with a decent amount. i try to keep stopping power on one of my several ump classes.
on that class i'll usually use a quickdraw secondary, and if i can pick up a primary like an m16 holo i will often swap my secondary for it.
conversely, on my marathon m16 holo class, i normally run around with a pp2000 secondary, and if i can find a suitable primary like a ump, tar, ak47, or mp5k to compliment the m16, i'll do the same thing.

hurm....mixture of the 2 movement speeds? fuggit. I'd go MP5K and Vector. MP5K for CQB and Vector for distance. and I'd STILL go with marathon+/SP+/ninja+ why? because it's a frickin' FUN class!
