Anyone find themselves claiming the enemies fallen weapons in order to better their own odds of survival? Ever grabbed a Blinged Gun while using Scavenger? Ever swipped an LMG when using an SMG? Ever grabbed a Riot Shield while using MLC knifing? In most of the above situations, hilarity ensues. Nothing beats a shield running 25mph and teleport lunging 15ft. I personally love looting AUGs and L86s when using a SP SMG, since those two LMGs perform very well in CQB, its even better if I was using Sleight of Hand.

Picking up an LMG when using an SP SMG class means the LMGs biggest drawback can be completely ignored.
Then the onslaught begins.
It's also a good idea to pick up a fallen teammate's/enemy's weapon when your magazine is finished and there's not enough time to reload before you're in another encounter.

I used to jump on every opportunity to bolster my arsenal in CoD 4 by trading my deagle for what I could find. In MW2, I don't as much anymore. When I do, it's when I find something particularly powerful, especially when I'm getting low anymore. With the power of many secondaries in MW2, it's not that necessary. In CoD 4, I used to pick up SMGs and shotguns as soon as I saw them if I was running a sniper class. In MW2, a SPAS-12 will serve me better than any W1200 ever did.

I pick up the gun just to see what it looks like. everytime i see a bling gun i always wonder to myself what retarded attachments this guy has. Also out of the 200Scar-H Grenade Launcher guns i picked up maybe only 2 had tubes left in them. That just goes to show the abuse of tubes.

Yah I used to swap out my pistol ASAP. I believe my best game ever I had a 25 killstreak running around with the M21 and a loot M16

The best perk set in the game (sleight of hand/stopping power/ninja) allows picking up any guns and performing well with them. I will always pick up enemy weapons if using these perks.

Yes.
I always run either Scavemger or SoH. If Scavenger, I'm looting to set up more claymores.
I always run out of primary ammo when running SoH. It's a great feeling to run out of ammo, kill a person or two with a shotgun, loot some random weapon and then continue the streak.

Nope. Unless I'm running a Machine Pistol (which is rare) as a machine pistol is in essence a weaker SMG. Shotguns have their purpose with their 0TTK, pistols have their purpose with their quickdrop swap time and launchers have their purpose for explosions. I didn't in CoD4 either unless I'm running an AR or LMG, in which case I'd pick up a sniper or LMG if I found one. Pistols on SMGs and Snipers were extremely useful for me due to their quick swap.

I have this strange psychological attachment to my suppressors. I could admit that they're to me what Stopping Power seems to be to a majority of pubs. This leads me to not want to pick up any other (unsilenced) weapon. Which means I run scavenger most of the time. So then I don't need to pick up other weapons, and I feel fine.

i swap when there is a pending need to swap in the future. until certain issues are pending my class was meant for a purpose & im not likely to swap. generally this means ammo is/going to run low.

one of my favorite sights in MW2 is someone with a riot shield. once i kill them, that thing is MINE.
there's nothing like being up on top of the 3 story in crash with an M21 and a riot shield. i dunno how effective it is at protecting me from behind, but i get kills and kills and kills with someone else's shield.
i'm so obsessed with having a shield as a secondary sometimes i'll get myself killed while using the default shield class with the intention of picking up my shield when i respawn with one of my classes.
FWIW, with the exception of my akimbo glocks with my F2K (brrrrrrrrrap!) i run a USP45 secondary pistols FTW. you should try it if you haven't lately.

I only pick up guns when I'm going to:
a. run out of ammo b. camp in a room and I pick up a shot gun
Otherwise I use scav and the raffica is better than most of the primaries so.....

The sounds like me. Yah I snag a Riot Shield every chance I get unless I'm sniping. You are by default, faster than a riot shield. Nothings more fun than a blinged looted AR, Scavenger, and a looted Riot Shield on your butt. It's great for CQB, oddly. I swap to that stupid thing when my Spideysenses tell me claymores and campers are afoot.

If I'm out of ammo, or at that particular time it happens to be a good idea. E.g. I'm trying to cap the B flag and I just killed a riot shielder, I'll take his shield while I cap then take my gun back and run away.

Step 1. Is the weapon on the ground an AK-47? Do its attachments ruin it?
Step 2. Does it have a decent amount of ammo? If not, do I have Scavenger?

in CoD4, I loot like it's going out of style.
in MW2, I hardly ever loot unless absolutely necessary.

I use OMA, so no, almost never.

I use Marathon, so almost always. Sprinting around the map at full speed using a (hopefully good) L86 never gets old. x3
But on a more serious note, I will most likely "loot corpses" unless if my team gets us cornered. I prefer having an actual perk over things like unlimited resources (Although one can be better than the other I don't deny). The only times I actually wouldn't loot in a need-to situation is if there's something as absurd as a Suppressed Intervention.

As mentioned by others, looting is far less important in MW2, than it was in previous CoD games. With the advent of Scavenger I basically never swap guns. ...But beyond infinite ammo, picking up guns makes noise, and makes you vulnerable; plus in the heat of battle, you might swap to your secondary, only to realize "Oh shit, what happened to my shotty, oh yeah I looted a guy's F2000," - death follows shortly afterward.
Scavenger is my method of looting. ...Unlimited Claymores, and Stun grenades is far-far-FAR more important than Marathon or any other 1st tier perk. /topic

With OMA, any weapon on the ground is an opportunity to set yourself up with an amazing combo:
1) See weapon on the ground 2) OMA to L86/RPD class 3) Switch weapon with one on ground 4) OMA to SMG+SoHP+Lightweight/SP+Perk3 5) Pickup the L86/RPD you just dropped
Also nice to be able to secondary a riot shield
Of course, you might just die in the 10 seconds it takes to do all the OMA/class switching...but an LMG with full movespeed, LWP and SoHP is just fun
Anyone know if P90+Exmags sprint duration lasts after a weapon swap?

Anyone know if P90+Exmags sprint duration lasts after a weapon swap? As long as you spawn/OMA to P90 Emags, you have the speed boost. So if you spawn with P90Emags, SoHpro, SP, Commando, and grab and Aug or L86, you are a full speed, 8 seconds of sprint monster.
