I'm playing BFBC2 on PC if it matters in this case. I'm not using Steam.
1. Why do I now have four kit slots that say "SA" at the end? I thought the whole spec act content was just a different skin on a gun, not four kit slots. What's with the extra slots?
2. Why aren't spec act weapons' stats updating properly? I've played with the SA M16 and UMP; neither's stats have updated at all. I still see zero time played, shots fired, kills, etc.

1. The extra slots make you use the different playerskins.
2. Are you checking a site like BFBCS to see your stats? Because you need to refresh your stats before the changes take place there. Otherwise, are you making sure you're playing on ranked servers? Not sure what your issue there could be.

So those slots literally change the appearance of the soldier I'm playing as?
And I was browsing my stats within the game itself. I'm also fairly sure I was playing on a ranked server. At least, I think my server filters make sure I only see ranked servers.
Edit: Just to clarify...using the normal kit slots uses the normal soldier skin, but using the SA slot does? And the gun skin is only used if I actually select the SA gun itself?

BC2 and Vietnam also have a tendency not to update stats properly. However the stats are remembered by the servers, only they are not displayed to the player in game. In BC2 i was given a star and EXP for kills, but then menu said i had for example 120 kills with a weapon, but needed lets say 60 for next star- so in real i had 140 kills, but 20 were missing. And now Vietnam- it can reset all stats, or show them the same they were last time (no progress after playing) but after few times when you quit the game it will eventualy update. I guess it has something to do with EA servers being overload, because its much easier to update properly at night, when less people are playing.

Yes, if you use "Assault SA" you'll be using the special SpecAct outfit, but you won't have the M16 SA unless you select it in the loadout menu. You can even use the SpecAct guns while not using the SA kits.

Besides the small thing (the only useful one is the russian medic with the green instead of red hat), I find it useful to have 4 extra "class slots" so that you don't have to always change loadout if you use always the same 2 classes (let's say a Gustav Engi and a AT4 one). Little stuffs anyway.
