As I'm doing a sweep of bronzes to get the challenge unlocked I was trying out the Uzi and PP2000 with the 4X scope and, well, they seem good at range somehow?
Like I can just park the sight over a target, rapidly click to fire and take them out faster than I could with any semi-auto sniper at that distance.
It's.... different.

Yeah, those two are famously decent at range. The fast stream of flimsy bullets doesn't seem to trouble the guns much in terms of recoil and they both have generous magazines. It's a conscious call: they're poorer than their brethren up close, so it's a trade-off. But yeah, compared to other classes of weapon they are surprisingly effective. It's a nice balance, as you don't get a scope with them, and engineer, for me at least, is the least-likely class for me to use optics with, so if you can aim with the little irons at long distances, you get a nice reward. The other smgs aren't really poor at range (the 9A91 is great, even) but o guess you don't even really think to use them, and definitely the PPuzi is more forgiving in terms of accuracy. As for the semi-auto snipers, I just can't get in to those things. Maybe I'm just not a disciplined enough shot for semi-auto, but I'd take the VSS over the SVU at any range. Slow, unforgiving guns in my hands. Especially the NVA one in vietnam, I completely hate that gun.

Dear gosh, getting the ecstasy of gold challenge done on BFBCS was a nightmare, the M21 especially, I kind of liked the SVD but that M21... ugh. But I really like the semi-auto snipers, in Vanilla at least, far more forgiving than the bolt actions, more accurate and powerful than the VSS, and nice chevron scope crosshairs or whatever it is.

Yeah, been going for the 50 and 100 kill vietnam achievements also. Not up to 100 with everything yet but I got all the 50s. Averaged about an hour for 50 gun kills on most guns (less with PPSh and a few others), but over 2 hours for 50 SVD kills, and 90 mins for M21. Those guns are just poor.

Especially the NVA one in vietnam, I completely hate that gun. hoo boy. been forcing myself to use the SVD for that achievement, and after 2-3 hours of hating it.... i mean i don't love it but I did just completely own house with it. definitely getting the feel/timing for it, and slowly gaining the ability to shoot at guys when you can't see anything at all through the scope after the first shot.
