i remember the heavy barrel being near unusuable without grip at long range because of the vertical recoil, but i think the benefits could be either: less horizontal recoil. A sacrifice for people who prefer vertical recoil, or Faster muzzle velocity (opposite of silencer effect) or something else that makes the gun "better" somehow

The Heavy Barrel (at least on the description) said that it increased strictly vertical recoil, and the grips description said that it strictly reduced horizontal recoil. I would really love to know just what the damn HB attachment does >.<

They really did a bad job on wording the Heavy Barrel. What it actually does, is increase the gun's accuracy while in single shot mode. Just shooting single shots in auto mode doesn't count as far as I know.

by accuracy do they mean recoil settles more quickly? Kind of ruins the point of single burst by default doesn't it..

maybe it means the "cone" is tightened up. it seemed when i was playing the beta that shots do not land in the exact same place each time you fire - noticeable mainly at longer ranges - so perhaps heavy barrel "increases accuracy" by making shots land more consistently exactly where your crosshair is pointed (after accounting for bullet drop)?

Just shooting single shots in auto mode doesn't count as far as I know. If this is true, then why is the SKS, which is semi-auto only, compatible with the heavy barrel? Also, I didn't use the Support class LMGs much, but don't they have the heavy barrel attachment... as well as no single fire? This attachment is confusing.

sks has haeavy barrel? are you certain? I can't really validate, but I'm almost positive it did In fact, I think it was unlocked and equipped by default. I didn't use the SKS much, so I can't say I noticed any difference (if I ever bothered to remove the attachment anyway)

a quick googling brought me to this site, where there are all unlocks for the SKS listed, heavy barrel not being among them. but i still might be wrong, it's literally the first thing google puked out on the matter.

SKS came with HB by default. I used the silencer though. PSST PSST PSST PSST. Oh yeah.

Think we can get a "post-launch" rehash of this topic?
