Has anyone played Rage yet? Any thoughts?
The New York Times video game reviewer (yes, there is one) said that it looked amazing on the XBox 360, but looked horrible on his top of the line PC setup, and doesn't even include the ability to manually adjust graphics settings. That seems surprising to me as it's an id game, but after witnessing the long, slow decline of pc gaming over the decades, not impossible. Can anyone verify?

There are some problems with the PC version's configuration. Makes the game think that many PCs have extremely low Video RAM, causing the megatexture streaming to fail to load in textures properly. There are other console-default settings on the PC version, only using a 4GB megatexture instead of the high resolution 8GB or 16GB texture. That's on top of the video option menu having almost nothing except "Anti-Aliasing ON/OFF". Tweak the configuration files and things will look nice and load smoothly.

The textures on PC are embarrassingly bad. As in it should have been a day-1 issue they should have patched, but have not.
Gameplay: The game is extremely linear, even though the RPG appearance on the game would make you think it would not.
The racing side of it is loose and forgiving, with the driving, and especially the aiming.
The FPS side of it was initially boring, level after level, even on Harder difficulty, but is starting to show some signs of entertainment. The Parquor enemies, and Jackals, are fairly fun.
Overall I am disappointed, and am finding it hard to have the desire to finish it. I do get a constant chuckle by screenshotting the HORRIBLE textures.
