You are my bro, bro.
On another Forum, one of the members is saying that he has done the math and that Stopping Power always kills faster than Double Tap because it kills with fewer bullets. My argument is that when you factor in a player's accuracy, that may not be true.
When I use the MP40 with Dual Magazines, I prefer to use the Double Tap perk over Stopping Power because the RoF is so slow and I have more ammo to use before a reload.
Has there been any comparisons done to see which weapons would benefit more from Double Tap as opposed to Stopping Power?
I would be interested to see a chart created that would put this argument to rest.
I understand that the extended clip capacities can make all the difference in the world for the SMG's when deciding whether to use Double Tap or Stopping Power.

With the 40 double tap kills faster but were talking fractions of a second. I belive with the Thompson and the Type 100 stopping kills faster than double tap.
I belive Den explained this in another post, I think.
Then again I could have read the post wrong

Using all encompassing values, any numbers affected by Stopping Power will work:
Delay between shots of 0.1 Delay between shots of 0.075
Using Time to Kill a Guy - amount of time, necessary number of shots, first shot takes place as zero (so cut off a delay).
Power 0.1 (50+ damage, two shots) 0.2 (40 damage, three shots) 0.3 (30 damage, four shots) 0.4 (20 damage, five shots) 0.5 0.6
Tap 0.075 0.15 0.225 0.3 0.375 0.45
If both weapons miss once, the gun using Double Tap will speed ahead in Time to Kill after the third shot.
Ignoring the chance of misses or other factors, Power will outdo Tap... though considering the heavier kick of the weapons in WaW, an intermittent shot from a machinegun is a given.
Another though, most weapons with Power kill in two to three shots, and a miss on the first or second will only allow Tap to even up against Power on the fourth.

On another Forum, one of the members... I am aware of all things, Mandalorian, I am the time lord. Den, you mention Double Tap generally being inferior after a single miss, but what happens when you miss more than once, as what usually happens when firing from the hip? Does Double Tap generally becomes more useful then? Given that recoil is less of a factor from the hip (if not irrelevant, but I shouldn't assume), it seems like firing from the hip is the natural usage for Double Tap.

With a single miss, Double Tap will best Stopping Power if it takes at least three shots to kill a guy. Though for the MP40, the damage is kicked up to two and three shots. With the necessary amount of shots, Double Tap's need to hit one more time would require two misses on the Power Side to win.
Firing from the hip... would suggest the player allows himself the chance to miss, and as such Stopping Power would be a much better choice due to the need to strike the enemy one less time in a volley of inaccurate gunfire.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I re-edit posts a lot before sending them off, but while they may be grammatically correct, sometimes I have oversights in regards to their actual content. In return, I shall try to clarify what I'm trying to say, and I will use an example: Take the RPD. At 100% accuracy it can kill in 0.1714 seconds normally, 0.0857 seconds with SP, and 0.127 seconds with DT. But then when calculating it with the accuracy reduced to, say, 25% (using the average base-damage-per-shot of 10) it turned out that it took 0.7713 seconds normally, 0.6856 seconds with SP, and 0.5715 seconds with DT. I could be missing something, though. That seems to happen a lot, and I'm grateful when they are pointed out. One thing to note is that SP still saves ammo, at least one bullet, but at 25% it would be four saved per kill on average, which can add up. Of course, the only real point of the exercise is to prove that Double Tap has some tangible use, as niche as it may be. I like disproving popular opinion. Edit: I should mention that I'm talking in more abstract terms than a specific weapon. I have no idea what the MP40's stats actually are, I don't own WaW (yet?).
