I used the search function but didnt find anything.

Is 30 health mode Hard core?

Does it mean that you have 30% of the health you do compared to core?

How does that work with the damage multiplier?

In 100 health mode, you have 100 points of health. In Hardcore mode, a.k.a 30 Health Mode mode, you have 30 points of health. The damage multipliers are the same in 100 health mode and 30 health mode.

There are very few good guns for 30 health mode. M21, M249, G3, M16, AK-47 (no red dot, no suppressor), M4 (no ACOG), G36c (ACOG), P90, and Skorpion. FYI.

I'd narrow the list down even further than that. The G3 totally outclasses the M16 in every way.

The M16 is better for CQC and walling, so no, it is not totally outclassed in every way, unless you have a modded controller.
In Hardcore on CoD4 you should use UAV Jammer, Sleight of Hand, Juggernaut, Overkill (don't hate), Dead Silence, Deep Impact, or Extreme Conditioning.
For WaW the weapon list is much larger and it is harder to say that one gun trumps another. If you ask a more specific question, I will answer it.

What playstyle?
Basically do you want to focus on close, medium, or long range, or do you want to use Overkill for multiple ranges, and do you want to be stealthy or not?
