It seems like I'm running faster when I use the SAW compared to the other LMG's.
Is this all in my head, or does the SAW have a faster movement speed than its higher caliber brethren?

The weaponClass for the SAW and all attachment versions read "mg" on PC just like the other two guns; this one is a figment.

Supposedly the SAW has fast up/down times, and the hip spread is decent with a grip, but in spite of this, using the weapons always feels a bit slower than an SMG.

Supposedly the SAW has fast up/down times, and the hip spread is decent with a grip, but in spite of this, using the weapons always feels a bit slower than an SMG. Slower movement speed, movement penalty when aiming down the sights, slightly worse accuracy when firing from the hip (somewhere between an AR and an SMG), and slower ADS time (.35 seconds in and out, compared to .25 for the 74u and .20 for the other SMGs). The Saw definitely plays slower than an SMG, but it has an awesome TTK, unlimited range, 100 bullets in the clip, killer penetration, and incredibly low recoil with the grip (less than the P90). Pair it with Steady Aim and it's like a beastmode SMG. I never mind the slower sighting times because I always pull the right trigger before the left. In HC, it's especially Beastcore, since it's a 1-shot kill at any range. M249 + Grip + DT + Steady Aim = pwn. Best CQ gun in the game when firing from the hip, and as useful as a sniper at long range since you can just pull the trigger and sweep the sights over where you think the enemy is.

The RPD with Stopping Power dominates the other LMGs in Core.

The RPD with Stopping Power dominates the other LMGs in Core. I agree the RPD is a better gun than the M249 in softcore, but the M249 + Grip fills a role that the RPD can't thanks to the hip-fire.

not really... the SAW has a faster TTK, less recoil, and has the grip descrimpacy (spelt wrong) when it comes to choosing a gun, you choose one to suit your game style. SAW if you can land all 3 shots. And RPD when you always seem to miss the third one Kind of like the M4 over the AK47 (the SAW without stopping power makes me cry)

What? With SP the SAW is a 3 shot and the RPD is a two shot. The RPD two shots faster than the SAW three shots, and the reliance on damage instead of ROF means you use a lot less ammo. And without SP the RPD has a faster TTK. Seriously iKONIG, what the hell were you smoking when you typed that?

RPD is the best LMG. The M60 is the best without SP.

RPD is the best LMG. The M60 is the best without SP. Even without SP, I'd still take the RPD. The M60 kills faster up to 1000 inches, and the RPD kills faster beyond 1000 inches. Under 1000 inches isn't ideal LMG range, though, since the sights take so damn long to pull up (and since the M60's sights are so terrible in the first place).

Plus I hate the M60's horizontal recoil and low ROF.

Plus I hate the M60's horizontal recoil and low ROF. Lord yes. I hate absolutely everything about that gun, to be honest. They should have named the three LMGs "M249 SAW", "RPD", and "Bad RPD".

You know, I don't know how I do so well with the M60; I do better with it than the RPD. M60 Grip Juggernaut Steady Aim ^It's an absolute beast close-mid range. Long range it loses its superiority due to bad sights and range decay, but the thing is like an MP40 with Deep Impact everywhere else. blametruthproject.com/call-of-duty-4-team-deathmatch-45-m60e4/There's a match I had with it the other night. You could argue that the enemy was incredibly dumb though, but I still do pretty consistently well with the thing.

Smoking is bad for your health, and its illegal at my age over here. and that was my mistake, i got the two numbers mucked up. RPD TTK: 0.171s SAW TTK: 0.195s Human error is a curse
