can we finally get the last word on this issue? do suppressors finally keep your position hidden on the mini-map while firing? the patch notes said they fixed this but would like to be 110% sure and make sure all weapons are working and not just some again.

I guess if they say they fixed it - then they have fixed it. quite honestly - they seem to have changed almost everything - so prepare to face a complete new game...
from the patchnotes...
Fixed several weapons so they are properly suppressed and hide the player on the minimap when fired. Tweaked Tactical Light so it is not as blinding over longer ranges. Tweaked the IRNV scope so it is limited to usage only at close range. Reduced heat masking effectiveness of Spec Ops Camo. Fixed a bug where Ammo spec would give additional 40mm grenades instead of Frag spec. Increased the number of additional 40mm grenades from Frag spec. Fixed so AT mines only live for 20 seconds after a player dies to prevent infinite mines. Increased the Time to Live on sniper caliber rounds to allow extreme distance shots. Slightly decreased the accuracy for all weapons on fully automatic, burst fire is now preferable at mid to long range. !!!!!!!! Increased the effective accuracy of long bursts for LMGs when using a bipod. !!!!!!! Slightly increased the range of the 44magnum bullets. Increased the close range damage of 4.6x30mm and 5.7x28mm bullets. !!!!!!!! Reduced the aimed accuracy bonus given by a Suppressor for the MP7, P90, PP2000, PP-19, and UMP45. Decreased the effectiveness of 12g FRAG ammo when equipped on semi-automatic and automatic shotguns. Tweaked the AN94 so its burst fire better conveys the real world advantage offered by this weapon. !!!!! Added Single Shot to the AN94 as an available fire mode. Slightly increased the recoil on the M416 and removed the Burst Fire mode (this weapon incorrectly had burst fire, which was not authentic). !!!!!!
see my ! marks - all these need to be re-evaluated.

the bold changes all sound good to me except increasing the recoil on the M416. this gun was decent at best and its low-ish recoil, which was still higher than the m16 (ditto reload times) was one of the only things keeping it afloat against the higher ROF assault rifles. i don't understand how they look at the AR balance and decide this totally middle-of-the-road gun needs a nerf?
also not sure how i feel about that full auto nerf for all guns, but i won't know until i play with it.

the patchnotes were mistyped, they meant to say F2000. it has been corrected since.
the M416 remains as it was. wich means that it still has absolutely no right to exist in the face of the m16.

yeah the M416 has very little to offer over the M16
- slightly lower first shot recoil - no annoying front post obscuring your view when using RDS/Holo - 3 fire modes if you're into that kind of thing - looks cooler?
but i still prefer it.

.... in the Assault class - the 416 is NOT middle of the road, but top. Why? accuracy >> TTK -> thus 416 and the M16A3 is top in that league. Would not know any reason too choose another Assault rifle? Even the old F2000 was only better in close (up to 15 meters) distance.. maybe no longer/maybe still.

well but why take the 416 if you can take the m16, that is superior in every single way? interesting - I interpret the charts from symthic different than you. - 416 has 0.28 up recoil vs. 0.25 on every m16 shot BUT the first bullet make the gun kick 2,0 high 416 and 2,5 for m16 so that is a lot more. compare this with a 4 bullet burst: m16 2,5+4x0,25 =3,5 416 2,0+4x0,28=3,12 to compensate I do not know if this calculation makes sense (maybe the decrease of 18.0 is making the difference smaller) - but this makes look like 416 is a tad more accurate. -- yes m16 is 6% faster ROF wise... -- I havent tested the look "front post obscuring"

huuuh, you might be onto something there. didn't consider the first shot kick, that's true. so 416 might be better for short bursts.
6% faster rof isn't really a biggie..
i think you have changed my mind about the 416^^

So for a 5 round burst the recoil values would be M16AX - 2.5*0.25+4*0.25 = 1.625 M416 - 2.0*0.28+4*0.28 = 1.68

I guess if they say they fixed it - then they have fixed it. Has anybody happened to have tested it after 12.06.11 to see if the silencers keep you off the minimap on all weapons (as apparently intended)? I'd be interested to know if I actually shouldn't have started using a silencer on the M4.

Even if silencers make you show (which I believe they don't), it's still good to use them because of the noise reduction on your weapon.
