A dedicated server is basically the "home" to one person/group that maintains and administrates an always active, high-speed hub that can handle a large amount of players (many of whom become regulars) with no problem.
To be taken away, that would piss off many.
Consoles can do well with Matchmaking due to the solitary hardware, massive population and automated connectivity. For PC, there won't be even a fraction of the population of guys who play MW2 that have a powerful system, a fast enough personal internet service and properly configurated settings that can handle hosting anywhere close to 18 players.

And for people who lives in a country with poor upload speed (mind you, I only have 512kbps upload >_>), its pretty much impossible to play 9v9 with a local host without having your shots travel all the way to the moon and back.
You guys should be thankful that Den even bothered to purchase MW2 to give you guys some stats (and hopefully, a review of IWnet ;D).

don't the maps tend to be optimized for like 12 players? Because sometimes even 18 is too much... so why the hell would you want 36?

@luft: It looks like there won't be custom maps in MW2. Also, I think Den wants to play the game enough that he is purchasing it for reasons other than giving us information. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful; I really appreciate the information (more than I would care to admit), but you made it sound like we were a burden on Den or something.

Unless the game is a popular multiplayer game that my bros will get in on, I rarely buy "singleplayer" games on release day, waiting for a price cut or cheap used copy (of course, used copies are not applicable to PC games). But all of the guys I play with (as well as a significant population of the "dedicated" players) have abandoned buying MW2 after that announcement, so my multiplayer exposure will possibly be short and lacking. I might get two runs through Campaign, some time on all SpecOps missions and reach maximum Rank, but for sixty bucks... on a gamble - I may not be able to do what I intend to do... Here's a more up to date version of what the Flash "chart" will look like. The top row of buttons will open up the respective weapon class. Clicking on the class will switch to that weapon's stats. Lot of open space for other things, though I'll probably condense it vertically. What else should go on here?

I'm sure that there will be people of bro-worthy status on MW2 on PC. Don't give up hope! Besides, this campaign and spec ops mode are both actually looking pretty awesome. I will be praying to the FSM for you.

Meh, that's not what I meant. With all that hype going about IW screwing us PC gamers up, most of us aren't willing to spend that sum of money just to "test" it out (no refunds!). Den took the bro-ish move and purchase it anyway, to give us a review of IWnet and of course, the old fashion "lets dig the iwd files if its still there at all".

The chart is missing mobility and wall penetration. Noting which guns have full ADS movement speed would also be a good idea.

Maybe on the chart you could put a place to toggle perks on and off like Stopping power and sleight of hand.

Perhaps some sort of side-by-side comparison capabilities? Just open up two of them!

A little box about discrepancies or useful notes perhaps. e.g. in COD4 for example, M14 + Stopping Power = 1 Shot kill to the head
I don't know any things like these for MW2, 'cept maybe the FAMAS and M16 that get the 1-burst effect.

The M14's OSK to the head was due to a head multiplier, it wasn't a discrepancy.
