I just noticed something weird.
On Spec Ops, on the mission set "Bravo", on the mission "Bomb Squad", you start off with an M1014 with a Holographic sight. Just for fun, I was shooting rounds at the wall to look at recoil and happened to notice that using the sight actually makes the spread tighter (the opposite of how it normally works). You can check it out for yourself... I emptied several clips until the shot pattern was pretty saturated and the results were obvious.
So, I did tests with all the shotguns I have in Multiplayer... And it's normal for the SPAS, AA12, Striker, and Ranger (by normal I mean aiming down sights makes the spread wider). I thought maybe it was a side-effect of Red Dot Sight or Holographic Sight, so I took the time to earn the Red Dot Sight on the Spas-12... But it made no difference in recoil, whether aiming down sights or not. I haven't used the Red Dot Sight on the other shotguns or the Holographic Sight.
Does anybody know, then, if all the shotguns in Campaign\Spec Ops make a tighter spread when aiming down sight, and in Multiplayer, does the M1014 Holographic Sight improve shot spread, whether aiming down sight or not?

In COD4 multi-player, the shotguns had a wider spread when ADS than shooting from the hip. The RDS had no effect on it.
I haven't played Spec-Ops yet but your findings would be what I would expect for a single-player vs multi-player experience.

I don't think Singleplayer/Spec Ops runs on the same weapon files as those in MP.
