How do you like to Snipe in MW2? By sniping I mean not quickscoping or anything like that. I mean pure, hardscoped, tactical loitering in the buildings (or on the hills) kind of sniping.
If you want to not be found by the enemy and not have dual 1887's blow your face off, then you probably need Cold Blooded to stay off the UAV. Some might say that suppressors are necessary, but TBH the only sniper's that should EVER be suppressed are the M14 EBR and the WA2000.
IMO, the best stealth sniping kit is the WA2000 with Cold Blooded and NO SUPPRESSOR. The beautiful thing is, is that it still OSK's the exact same way with or without stopping power. Just like our old comrade, the Dragunov SVD.
If you're thinking of taking the M14 w/ silencer and stopping power, think again. It is much better to only show up on UAV when you shoot, versus showing up on the UAV almost all the time. With Cold Blooded and no silencer, you can at least control when you appear on the enemy radar.

I just did a heck of a lot of math earlier about sniping to determine exact values of all snipers with and without stopping and with and without silencers and I can say that with silencers, stopping power on intervention, Barrett, and wa2000 is the same as wa2000 without silencer. So yeah, without stopping or silencer, the wa2000 is best. I never really stealth snipe though. I get to a place, do a little bit of in between hardscope and railgun, but not one or the other exclusively. But o really like my shots to kill and for me time is... Kills, not money, so I use stopping to take down enemies without as much effort to aim specifically for the chest. But showing up on radar is funny when you got models and you sit in a corner and wait for a few enemies to rush a you.
But I play third person and hardcore even more than I do regular, so I wallhack in third to see rushers and I got my models ready and in hardcore, I use hardline m21 silent with scavenger so I can spray one shot kills like a fool who can't aim.

I agree with mdnl. I do better with silencer + SP versus _ + CB.

I prefer to have two sniper setups:
COMBAT SNIPER Barret .50 CAL or M21, each w/ Thermal Scope Claymore and Smoke Scavenger Pro Stopping Power Steady Aim
RECON SNIPER (stealth sniper) Barret .50 CAL or M21, each w/ Thermal Scope Claymore and Smoke Scavenger Pro Cold-Blooded Ninja
I'll usually pick the first class, but If I find that I'm getting killed by people with Thermal Scopes or Heartbeat Sensors or there's lots of UAVs, I'll switch to the stealth class.
I don't like silencers on sniper rifles very much. You're usually far enough way that you don't have to worry about making noise. With a silencer, I find more often than not that I will wound so many, then they will duck around a corner, which happens far more often than getting snuck up on because I made some noise. Using a silencer on the Barret w/ Stopping Power isn't as bad, but since cold-blooded is a MUST on stealth classes, the silencers just make your rifles a 2-shot kill always, which is annoying.

The secret to silenced/cold-blooded sniping is the same as the secret to UAVJammer sniping in CoD4- use the M21, aim for center mass, and fire in two-shot bursts. If you give two quick pulls on the trigger, you can often land the second shot on target before the recoil kicks your sights up.

UAV is still very common in spawning games. If people use the usual UAV/Care Package/Predator Missile, then UAV's have a chance of being even more common due to the Care Package frequently giving UAV's. The way I see it, if you want to snipe with a suppressor, the best bet is still the WA2000 with Stopping Power, or maybe even the Barrett with stopping but I haven't really thought of witch one of those would be best.

Barrett has more ammo but kicks like a mule. I would choose the WA2000, but the Barrett isn't a bad choice.

I also have two sniper classes, and also a combat and stealth one. I named them "Eagle" and "Hawk", respectively.
EAGLE WA2000 with FMJ (sometimes a heartbeat sensor or thermal scope just for fun)
HAWK M21 with silencer
Both classes have the same perks: Sleight of Hand Cold-Blooded Commando and as secondary a magnum with tac knife.
I'm one of those old-school snipers. Cold-Blooded is a must IMO, even if it makes my silenced sniper a two-shot kill. I don't care, the benefits of first strike and remaining stealthy are infinitely greater than the convenience of a OHK possibility IMO. OHK is of course extremely nice but the M21 doesn't have that big of a OHK zone, I'd rather just land two shots and remain hidden. Not showing up on thermal is sometimes a major advantage too, especially against other snipers, and extremely much so on Wasteland. For this reason, I don't often use a thermal scope myself. My normal scope isn't as easy sometimes as thermal, but not as unreliable either. I usually go for the Eagle class though.
I take a nice viewspot or a nicely camouflaged area where opponents have difficulty finding me even if they see my red dot on the map when I fire. When I reveal my position through either killcam or firing, I relocate and ambush whoever comes for me there. I don't take shots unless I know I can kill the opponent . I used to have Ninja on, but with Commando and a tac knife I make mincemeat out of whoever gets into my hideout so I don't even care if they hear me anymore. Besides, being able to fall from heights undamaged is a major advantage because most of your opponents can't follow you there, or won't suspect you'd take that route.
Also, random thing: the Barrett and Intervention should be a OHK with silencer without stopping power.
