Yeah dark types really rely on their 2nd/1st typings to get solid moves to attack with, but it has some merit in completely shutting down specific but common defensive and offensive pokemon, with their great utility moves. Not an underpowered type but definately a niche typing for teams. I think the best thing to be said about dark types is that they can shut down defensive and offensive pokemon line ups equally well. The funniest thing about pursuit is usually you predict correctly in a threat, they swapped in an offensive threat for free and you're now asked the question what the fuck do I do now. It's not an all or nothing move but it is a move where you need to cripple pokemon or outright ko them.

I should also mention that scrafty (poor Ty)/pangoro get absolutely wrecked by any specially offensive poke using dazzling gleam... which hits multiple targets for doubles too...
Alot of pokemon can learn it too.

I should also mention that scrafty (poor Ty)/pangoro get absolutely wrecked by any specially offensive poke using dazzling gleam... You don't even know how hard that hit me when I realised that Scrafty is 4x weak to Fairy. Luckily Bisharp can still return fire to Fairies with SE Iron Head... But yeah, my tanky Bulk Up Scrafty with his 58 Speed isn't exactly going anywhere any more On the other side of the Fairy type though, Fairy/Flying Togekiss is going to be one hell of a player this gen: - Bulky 85/95/115 defenses - Dragon and Ground immunities - Infamous 120 SpAtk + Serene Grace Air Slash - Dazzling Gleam for slaying Dragons - Nasty Plot for boosting on switches - Thunder Wave for almighty para-flinch (w/ Air Slash) - Roost for that recovery (+ occasional BoltBeam dodges) Not to mention the Aura Sphere and Flamethrower/Fire Blast coverage for Steel Types too should you want it. Where do I sign up?

Yeah paraflinch took a big hit though w/ electric types having complete immunity to paralysis. Kiss is going to be great in doubles because of follow me and dazzling gleam getting its effect off more. Also it crushes grass types which received some much needed buffs.

Dumien togekiss was never meant to attack electrics anyway. It's weak to it and it's flinching move is resisted by electric. The electric buff didn't hurt togekiss.

speaking of paralysis. New move that (as far as I know) can only be used by any of the pika-clones (including the new fairy/electic one).
Nuzzle
20 damage. 100% Acc. Guaranteed Paralysis, Aditionally targets one adjacent opponent.
This thing could be a doubles nightmare...and it gets around taunt.

My friend told me I'm Poison but I haven't beaten the game yet so I don't know. I would really appreciate it if someone could get a me an Aron or something in the evolutionary line. Aggronite would be a plus, I would give it back once I get my own.

replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-68207825I'm having a lot of fun in the PokéBank OU ladder right now. This is the first time I've ever played OU and also the first time I've played with any of the Gen VI Pokémon. I wanted to stay away from pre-Gen VI Pokémon that hadn't received anything new, but Magnezone and Mamoswine are just so Foxtroting cool I couldn't help myself. Talonflame w/ Gale Wings is so good, and I just want to put my dick in Mega Mawile 'cause of how OP it is. Edit: I'm also proud of some great predictions I made that game.

I usually stay away from legendaries because Foxtrot using OP shit, but since no-one seems to care about Zygarde at all I feel alright using him. This bulky Sub/Coil set is by far one of my favourite additions from Gen VI: Zygarde @ Leftovers Ability: Aura Break EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef Adamant Nature - Substitute - Coil - Dragon Tail - Earthquake - Switch in on a suitable physical attacker (read: TalonFlame).
- On the inevitable switch: Sub if you're predicting a faster opponent, wall-breaker, or status inflicter.
- Coil if you think you can take a hit, or whenever you feel safe to do so.
- Dragon Tail out any un-favourable match-ups; also useful for racking up hazard damage and hits surprisingly hard at +2 Atk.
- Earthquake everything else for that big damage.
Togekiss literally walls this set completely, so be sure to eliminate that before trying anything with Zygarde. Azumarill also proves troublesome with Aqua Jet, but only if you haven't Coiled yet. After a Coil or two you can survive at least one Aqua Jet and retaliate with Earthquake. I've had multiple rage-quits just from Coiling before I've even launched an attack. So hilarious.

I like Avalugg with assault vest and spdef/hp evs because he's so damn bulky on the defensive side. He can then spin on special attackers and physical attackers, and is a great dragon check.

You see all these noobs flaunting off their Mega Tyranitars, Mega Kangaskhans or maybe the odd Mega Charizard, but what they don't realise is: Mega Medicham doesn't give a shit - even if it is wearing toilet paper on it's head. replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-71482847 I wish I saved more replays.

It's that time again! VGC 2014! Ray Rizzo is making a comeback and took VGC Virginia with a team he tested for only a day and didn't get perfect IVS/EVs for.
Its also time for a new semester of college and that means more time to dream up pokemon teams while waiting between classes!
Right now I'm testing a sweet ice core.
Chandelure/Meowstic/Abomashow/Rotom-F
Hitmontop is gone and so is heatran and most of the steel types in the VGC meta (outside of the obvious mawile). Chandelure is the same old TR setter, but Meowstic is my new fakeout user of choice. Fakeout/Misty Terrain/Charm/Quick Guard w/ eject button is just so so sweet.
Mega Abomalama is my new sweeper w/ Blizzard, energy ball to OHKO rotom wash, protect, and Ice shard (which I am considering replacing with HPfire. The reason aboma is so good is because he gets a ridiculously low 30 speed and a monstrous SPatk. In addition, he is immune to switch-in resets from tyranitar because the megaevolution resets the snow after the switch...pretty nifty.
Rotom-F is there to mess up everything gimmicky (like shuckle contrary). it has choice specs w/ Blizzard, Discharge, thunderbolt, and Trick.

So I came down with the flu...so I've been off off the grid for a while... I've also been playing pokemon VGC...snd mostly sucking, Definitely having a tougher time of it this season. It's been difficult to find a comfortable strat. The abomasnow thing hasn't been working out as well because of the seeming omnipresence of fire typings... I has a semi-sucessful run with an intimidate team with a nifty gyarados/specs + mega manetric set-up + scarfmence. However, just tonight I've had a major winning streak with a perishtrap team setup that nuggetbridge covered...I've also been looking at other perish teams and I think I found a really consistent mix... Unfortunately only one pokemon on the team is really truly my own brew. Here is my lvl 1 carbink in action. You will get to see every move and item used from it... replay.pokemonshowdown.com/vgc2014-83459500

So, I went on a major major tear with this team and went 15 games undefeated. I actually got to 33rd place on the ladder, before dropping a bit from some overnight players. Unless anything truly major happens with the metagame this will be what I am taking to Mass regionals with perhaps some minor tweaks. 5/6 of the team is a straight rip off, but learning to play the team is something especially important. Some of the pokes I'm considering are: Klefki w/ fairy lock and a eviolite trickster murkrow with perish song and feather dance. Honestly the 8-9 turn sequence is mostly determined in the match preview window. If they have a fakeout user which happens 75& of the time I will always lead with Amoongus (with poli in the back in case they also have the threat of Char Y). The sequence is as follows: If they lead fake out then the first turn is a double protect -> rage + perish -> Double Protect -> Double switch. At this point the first "wave" of pokes will be dead after this turn. If my freshly switched in gothitelle is at full health I will risk a trick room here and protect with the toad in order to make sure next turns perish song will be set up. If not, then I double protect. With both of their pokes dead they send in their final two. At this point shadow tag becomes meaningless and you just want the kill. Regardless you are already quite well set-up for an easy win. Poli can perish song and goth can reflect. Followed by a double protect and subsequent switch out. Even if they KO your two in either turn you can still switch in a backup (you only need 1 poke from your first wave to survive) and protect the third and final turn for the win. This strategy is augmented slightly if they don't have a fakeout user. For overly physical teams without a fakeout use I lead scrafty. His intimidate is perfect for stalling and in the late game he just trivializes things combined with gothitelle's reflect. For special teams or defiant teams I run carbink. Carbink is hilarious. It is the only TR user in the game that guarantees a sucessful TR setup after taking two attacks (even Ye olde cresslia couln't claim that). Guard split is hilarious for taking out opposing ghost pokes and ensuring I get an OHKO on rotom wash with gengar's shadow ball...Rest is to make sure that the opponent needs two attacks to kill it late game once the berry juice is gone. Carbink in general makes a great lead because setting up TR alongside the first perish song ensures that TR is in its final turn when the second perish song is needed. talk about perfect timing! Overall I am really proud that I came up with that part since it deals so well with two of the major threats that this team faced before...bulky ghosts and rotom Wash. Scrafty @ Leftovers Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 HP / 92 Atk / 44 Def / 116 SDef / 4 Spd Careful Nature - Fake Out - Drain Punch - Crunch - Protect Amoonguss @ Eject Button Ability: Regenerator EVs: 236 HP / 68 Def / 204 SDef Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Spd - Rage Powder - Spore - Giga Drain - Protect Gothitelle @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Shadow Tag EVs: 236 HP / 188 Def / 84 SDef Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Spd - Trick Room - Reflect - Psybeam - Protect Gengar @ Gengarite Ability: Levitate EVs: 188 HP / 20 Def / 44 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature - Perish Song - Shadow Ball - Substitute - Protect Politoed @ BrightPowder Ability: Drizzle EVs: 204 HP / 148 Def / 156 SDef Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Spd - Scald - Perish Song - Hypnosis - Protect Carbink @ Berry Juice Ability: Sturdy Level: 1 Naughty Nature IVs: 0 Def / 0 SDef / 0 Spd - Rest - Guard Split - Trick Room - Protect

Pidgeot is meant to be able to fly at mach 2 speeds... Yet it had 91 speed in gens I-V and 101 speed in gen VI. Solution? Give Pidgey a hidden ability, galewings. Bam, Pidgeot claims the glory it never had, being a UU threat, or borderline to OU.

Seventy thousand people used to live here. Now they're all in the same stream on Twitch playing Pokemon concurrently. That's right, all 70k people are inputting controls to the game at once. When people type "democracy" enough times the chat gets to vote on the next move in the chat for the next 20 seconds, and anarchy counters that. EDIT: BTW the actual stream is here.
