I'm somewhat new to the call of duty franchise and was wondering how exactly does the range work?
I understand the minimum damage a gun will do, but does for example a 40-30 gun do 40 damage to a certain range then drop off right to 30? Or does it gradually lower as the range increases from the optimal range of said gun?
You are my bro, bro.

A gun with 40-30 will do 40 damage up to a certain point, and then rapidly degrade to doing 30 damage after a certain range. There is an area where you will see 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32, and 31, hence why it's 40-30 otherwise read as 40 through 30.

Have a look at the CoD4 tables to get an idea how damage is affected by range. denkirson.xanga.com/632800688/call-of-duty-4/We don't have all the range figures for MW2, but it's bound to be quite similar. Also note that LMG and Sniper class weapons do not have any reduced damage at long range. This is also why silencers work differently on them. On most weapons silencers do not alter damage, the reduce the ranges where damage will drop to the min damage. On LMG's and Sniper weapons it strait reduces damage.
