Trailer for anyone who hasn't seen it. Nothing interesting, just a generic urban setting and an earthquake.
For whatever reason DICE decided crossbows would be a good idea. They've also been confirmed to have explosive bolts as an option; AKA a reskinned M203 with maybe less drop. Not sure what class they'd go on, but it's pretty redundant all around. Explosive bolts overlap with tubes and rockets, and normal bolts overlap with bolt rifles and slug shotguns. If they're usable by Support, say hello to BC2 tubing all over again. I'm not pleased with this at all. Next thing you know they're going to add akimbo pistols...

That was a really really boring trailer. Glad i bought that "season pass" for 20 bucks.

If the scan bolts do what I think they do, then they're basically longer range, sticky sensor balls. I can dig that, and I sure do hope you can decorate wookies with it like with tracer darts. 4 ammo types leads me to believe that they're going to be class based. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Either way, I see bad things. If the scan bolts really do offer ranged sensors and are usable by every class, then I can't see myself playing Recon ever again. I can't imagine what the 2 variations would be, unless they mean Red Dot versus 8x. I just hope there are irons, because I can't stand the Red Dot, and I'll never subject myself to scope glare. Also, I assume (hope) equipment based means the standard slot. Giving players the option to opt out of Defibs, Ammo Boxes, and Spawn Beacons in exchange for firepower would be the absolute worst decision to date. I still don't see why as an Engineer I'd opt for the crossbow over a launcher. Assault is more sketchy, but they really have no reason to give up the tube/M26 (can you mount a crossbow? ). Support is just a bad idea in all aspects. I'm not worried about Recons, because using a crossbow means they actually have to get closer to the enemy. Most of them aren't willing to make that "sacrifice."

I'm fine with the crossbows purely because I miss motion sensors. But yeah if they're not recon specific, goodbye recon.
