Now as we all know, going by statistics, there is no reason to use the M4 over the ACR. (Same damage, better (no) recoil and same/slighty better ROF) For some reason however, I seem to suck/do mediocre with the ACR, but do pretty well with the M4. Am I the only one who feels this way? For some reason I feel like I kill a lot quicker at close range, and I am more accurate at mid range. I feel like somehow we are missing something with the M4, but there really is nothing left to test. Is there anyone else out there who seems to be doing a lot better with the M4 vs the ACR? I still see high level people using the M4, so either they don't know about the ACRs superiority or they have the same problem as I do.

Reason: Placebo.
Reason good players may use M4: Placebo, or they do it because they like it more (like with people using m200 over G82 because of bolt-action despite g82 being superior). It's not like you're looking at tournament play.

Honest question: would you characterize yourself as a good shot? Do you feel like you have good aim? It's possible that your aim is always slightly off, so with the M4 you're benefiting from the random "inaccurate" bullets that wind up hitting your target, whereas with the ACR you aren't getting the lucky recoil bounces.

I think the ACR may have less penetration than the M4, or perhaps a quicker drop in damage at range. Something we can't test. But then again, IW are pretty clueless so you never know.

I consider myself to be pretty good at FPS games, I had a 1.76 ratio in CoD4 and 2.25 in MW2. (Although I know this doesn't mean much with all the killstreaks, tactical loitering, and 1887s) I try not to be a whore too much though.

YES! I do do good with the M4 and fairly crappy with the ACR. And then I read this. This is totally it for me. I may line it up just a bit to the left or right and bullets bounce into him. ACR, I find myself screaming, "I was right next to him!"

I think the placebo effect comes from the sound. A lot of people seem to think it sounds more powerful, and therefore feel like it is.

There's also the fact that you get the M4 SO much earlier on that more people are simply going to be more experienced with it. For all of the ACR being superior it will still play ever so slightly differently and take adjusting.
Also yes there is the time delayed shotgun effect of having more recoil that makes it easier to get hits with off center aim. I've personally benefited from this many times. heh But then I've even occasionally benefited from the damage kick, once headshotting a guy when i would have missed him completely. (He was on a roof and I was aiming for ground level targets.)
As I'm getting better I'm benefiting less from it, though. ;p

Could it be possible that the M4 ends up hitting the head more, due to it's larger spread?

Apparently the M4 actually does have a slightly higher ROF per Den's testing.
