Anyone else agree UMP is like the ultimate OP weapon in HC ?
Caus basically you get OHK withouts SP + all the mobility, ads mobility, ads speed, hipfire accuracy of a SMG in the same time, withouts any real disadvantage.
It get more recoil than most AR, but it is actually a good things. you are OHK, but in the case of a miss recoil give you better chance of hitting on a 2e shot.
Take a silenced UMP + red dot, cold blooded and ninja in HC...and you are like the ultimate stealth sniper -_- almost impossible to go negative with such setup.

I think the TAR is significantly better. Better iron sights means you can use a different Perk 1, higher ROF means it's better for hip firing, and lower recoil means it's better for medium and long range. The UMP is great if you are a perfect player, otherwise no. I hate the low ROF, high recoil, and iron sights.

725 vs 600 RPM is about a 20% higher ROF, but I wouldn't really call 600 low. Of course you could always throw rapidfire on the UMP, but I think I'd still prefer an AR.
I'm not a big fan of the TAR, personally, though. But I'm getting used to it.

SMG's aim assist drops off pretty quick on consoles. You're better off sticking with SCAR or FAL for hardcore I say.

That is unless you wanna use ACOG or Thermal.

UMP.45 is the weapon of choice for competitive league players.
in CAL-i most matches are 4v4 hard core s and d.
everyone uses silenced UMP.45, marathon, lightweight/coldblood and ninja
bad iron sights and high recoil is not a problem when you never miss.

Is the UMP the ultimate weapon for HC? No, but it is an ultimate weapon for HC. The TAR and SCAR are both also very good choices, and they both can pack on a Heartbeat Sensor (which is awesome when the other team isn't running Ninja). Snipers are badass in HC (no killcam, and a 1-shot kill while silenced), and they come with that nifty Ghillie suit, too. The Riot Shield still has a place in hardcore, and things like Akimbo 1887s and pistols can give you primary-weapon power for a secondary-weapon cost. In addition, low-recoil guns like the P90 and ACR still have a place in HC despite the 2-shot kill at range (the ACR in particular still one shots for quite a decent range). If the M240 got the M249's hip-fire bonus when gripped like in CoD4, then that would be the one gun to rule them all... and even though it doesn't, it's still a solid choice.
Ultimately, HC has a set of "power weapons" that completely outclass all alternatives, and while the UMP figures prominently in that set, it's not the only good choice out there.

The UMP and the TAR are both the best weapons for HC. I've REALLY been trying to justify the LMGs too but they just aren't as good in MW2 now that there are so many 1-hit-kill weapons. In CoD4 I loved the RPD and AK-74u with deep impact, because I loved penetrating walls. But the new penetraters aren't the LMGs anymore, the new penetrater is the TAR; and if you want to be nasty then put on Bling and use FMJ + Silencer and throw on stopping power and you're able to 1-hit though most any wall. The LMGs are fun, but in practice they are outclassed by the UMP and TAR in HC mode.

In Consoles, the SMG's have less aim assist range than Assault Rifles, a big difference

I just started using the UMP again after being with the TAR for some time, and I have to say that neither is better than the other. Sure, maybe a competitive player will opt for the UMP, but the TAR will come close to the UMP in some areas and exceed it in others. The TAR's low recoil, high ROF, and wall penetration really come in handy while the UMP has mobility, hip accuracy, and ADS movement speed. Both are super fantastic.
