I read on the Call of Duty wiki that Tactical Nuke kills count toward the user's best killstreak as reported on the leaderboards. This is not completely true.
My best killstreak came in a Ground War Team Deathmatch on Wasteland in which I earned a Tactical Nuke. When My Chopper Gunner rampage was finished, I checked the score card and saw that I had 27 kills and 0 deaths. I called in the nuke immediately and did not get any more non-Tactical Nuke kills. My final tally was 35 kills and 1 death, which was caused by the Tactical Nuke. I checked the leaderboards afterward and saw that my best killstreak was listed as 30 (previously it was 28).
Does anyone know how Tactical Nuke kills are counted? Does everyone not die simultaneously when a Nuke detonates (3 enemies die, then I die, then the other 5 enemies die?)?

I've only called in 2 nukes, and it feels like the kills dont count towards our streaks . . .

I suppose it is possible not everyone dies simultaneously. The nuke actually happens outside the map in the distance doesn't it? Perhaps deaths happen starting on that side of the map and moving to the other side. I wonder if the direction you're facing when you call it affects where it goes off, similar to how you can control which way the Emergency Airdrop flies in.
I can't test it myself. I'm not optimistic enough to think I could get one in a real match so I've not unlocked it. ;p

I've gotten my share of nukes (like 18, got bored of em and stopped) and it's never counted my nuke kills towards my kill streak, as my best streak is 31. All my nukes were in ground war.

those kills should count to your kill streak till your nuke kills you.

I'm not sure about any others, but on my very first tactical nuke ever I remember "turning the key" as soon as I got a 25 KS. My highest KS before was 24, and after that match it was 31. On my most recent nuke match, however, I was 41-1, but my highest KS is listed as 35.

Got over 75 nukes and none has counted towards killstreak, ever.

When you toss the grenade for Emergency Airdrop the airplane will come into the map from behind you, drop the first box on the grenade, and the other 3 boxes in a strait line the direction you're facing from where the first dropped with some space between them. So in other words toss the grenade down a street rather than across it or you'll land stuff on rooftops.
I'm still assuming a nuke actually kills everyone simultaneously, but it is possible that it kills them in a very fast wave similar to the wave you see pass across the radar when you have a UAV up. If it does kill in a wave then it likely starts from the direction that the explosion can be seen from, and if that is true then it may be possible to control which side of the map it starts on when you call it in in the same fashion as the Emergency Airdrop.
But all that is 100% speculation and probably not true. Just a theory worth checking out.

BTW The little choppers that drop care packages apparently also come in from a certain direction based on the way you're facing so it may be possible to shorten the time it takes by facing in towards the map center so that it comes from the edge rather than flying across the entire map. It would also be safer although they are so damn fast it's nearly impossible to shoot them down before they've dropped the box anyway.
The Airdrop plane is slower and a bigger target but I don't know if it even can be shot down, I've never seen it shot down before. It's not quite slow enough to really try most of the time.

I think the killstreak is not a problem with the nuke, but with the killstreak itself. Yesterday I had my most funny nuke of all times. wasteland, run to house on the edge, shoot 3 ppl on the far end of the hedge who first come there, shoot 3 ppl who want to get out off the trenches, shoot 1 on the far end of the hedge. deploy harier, kill the guy who wanted to get you. wait for CG, ask a friend to cover you. and when the timer of the game was on 8.20 (so it was going for 100 sec) I had 32 kills nuke within 2 mins , my new killstreak is 38... but also in WaW I had a 25 killstreak once (it was in the left corner of the screen... qupie has a killstreak of 25, but my streak was still 23 :S nuke might kill the enemy team first then you with your team mayb? so you get the kills of the enemy team and then you die? otherwise it might just be something weird with the way the killstreak saved orso.

the nuke comes from one side of the map and slowly (but fastly..) extends to the other side of it
ive seen it in a video on youtube, he glitches out of the map and runs to the extreme edge and calls in the nuke. you can see how it happens

Ahh so then we should test whether or not you can control what direction of the map it comes from or if it is random, or always the same per map. Not that I'm all for helping nukers, but meh... Might as well figure out how to make themselves last to die to push their KS higher.

Through testing, the tactical nuke detonates wherever the player is looking that called in the nuke, at the very edge of the map.
It will kill the players closer to the explosion a split second before the players farther away. Therefore, the kills you get with the nuke before the nuke kills you will count, and the ones after it kills you will not.

Well what do you know... lol A shot in the dark theory turned out true. Nukers take note.
