Equipment and Specials are switched to like another weapon, and a player can change weapons while sprinting. Only once the equipment begins to play its Raise/throwing animation will the player stop sprinting.
Lightweight has no efffect on that aspect - only the delay between sprinting and shooting, which will not be present when using equipment.
Regardless, the Throwing Knife appears to ignore the weapons' drop time - it can be thrown almost immediately.

In that case would it be faster to hold down the button to throw the knife like cooking a grenade while sprinting so that you can stop and immediately throw it without any weapon switch time or does the throwing knife already not have any?
Similarly would it be faster for semtex, flashbangs, ect to cook their switch time while you're still sprinting rather than trying to hit them right when you stop and want to throw?
I am assuming for grenades it would be the same as others except it would start cooking, and the timing of the fuse is more the primary concern than how fast you can throw it after a sprint.
Just curious.
