Lo, yesterday, Wyrd had permitted Awakening to alight on my hands. My fun! O, blessed fun, how long has she been absent? No expectation held years before compared, such hype had been gone. Gone since ODST and MW2, gone since SSBB, gone since TA, gone since M&L Superstar Saga, gone since all these games long passed, it has returned. Happy, Joyous fun! No, seriously, guys, I haven't had this much fun with a video game in years. Sometimes all it takes is for your expectations to be blown away while being introduced to a new series, that's what happened with MW2, M&L, and this game for me, TA was a childhood friend, and ODST and SSBB were super hype by themselves. Psychoanalysis says my goal is to have fun, and gosh darn golly gee whiz well it is, this good of a lower order I am using is far valued as such. This tactical turn based RPG with relationship building and infinite replayability is HNNNGH. I got Stahl and Sully to marry super quick :3 POSSIBLE SPOILER I plan on marrying Rukina (Lucina) because I'm a Marth fanboy. (Edit: maybe Anna, she's the only lockpicker I have and can only gain companion boosts with The Avatar and some other unknown) SPOILER END. Edit: I just married Lon'qu the badass swordmaster with Miriel the calculating sage, so unexpectedly awesome. On the same turn I've married Chrom and Sumia. . . obviously canon and awesome :3 Now I plan on Frederick and Olivia Anna (looks like they can't gain companion status boosts with eachother), but no plans for Lissa, perhaps with The Avatar (me) or Virion, lololololololol. And edit: Japan's most popular female marriage candidate dark mage Tharja I am planning to marry to the priest/war monk Libra :3 another magnificent combination. As an aside, I made a thread on smashboards (See SSB topic here) detailing the success of the hype mindset, and this played directly into my hype for FE, and I'm glad I'm finally in the series. Oh, and I watched Atlas Shrugged pt. 1 yesterday, it was boss. EDIT, January 17th, 2014.

I love fire emblem man. I loved the stories too. Unfortunately the last one I played was the one with erika and ephriam. I played the Gamecube one too but I wasn't as into those.
Pokemon conquest was also really good and reminiscent of fire emblem for one reason or another.

lol what makes you think I haven't?
That game is sweet. However, you care about the characters less (unless of course you name them all after your buddies you meet day to day).

Oh my word, why are some pairs so incredibly cute? That was the cutest thing ever, no joke, that Libra and Tharja (S) level scene was UGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~ I feel like all I do when I talk about this game is talk about the support levels. . .
ER WELL UHM, then, how about this? You know that point in certain video games, especially RPGs and tactical games like this, where you just want to go and start over because you've learned so much and looked through the game files and want to min/max everything? I'm at that point, but I'll pull through it, because I discovered the infinite grind-ability of the reeking boxes, and I think. . . I think I'm kinda close to being done? This game is just so long and playable.
Oh and I do have Pr. Marth on my team, too bad he can't get into support conversations, also super awesome that he has the best damn class name in the game (Lodestar) with the best damn skills in the game with Aptitude and Charm and nu he is mai waifu

Well, after 120+ hours, I've finally beaten it, the first playthrough, and I anticipate many more hours to come. I gave my sister the 3DS, I promised I'd let her play after I was complete, and when all's said and done I must confirm my previously held feelings.
It is the greatest game I have played in so long. Every emotional twist, every support conversation level, almost every line of text felt meaningful, every word spoke volumes, my heart flew in leaps and bounds and sunk in wretched dread and pain, to me it was far more than the superbly stats-heavy game that is the Tactical RPG, I felt invested at every moment, even in those support level grinds in my quest for same-sex friendship support completion, and my continuing (as you can only have one married once in one playthrough) quest for all S support levels.
Possible spoilers ahead?
My greatest pain out of it all is that I couldn't marry everyone off, haha, but that just means I'll have to come back and play more. Severa, Henry, Say'ri (I even gained A support with her!), Tiki I'm sorry. . . But not you, Walhart, Gangrel, Emmeryn, Basilio, Flavia, Yen'fay, and Gauis (who I missed the recruitment for at a poor save spot early on.)
I won't spare any detail here: Chrom and Sumia (PIE-er Emblem: a-BAKE-ening), Lissa and Virion, Sully and Stahl, Kellam (I forgot his name, how ironic xD) and Nowi, Frederick and Olivia (2nd favorite S support), Miriel and Lon'qu (3rd favorite), Libra and Tharja, Vaike and Maribelle, Cordelia and Gregor, Ricken and Cherche, Jaed'rik (me!) and Anna (Favorite new waifu, stupid socialists <3), Donnel and Panne (sweet). Second Generation: Rukina and Brady, Owain and Kjelle, Inigo and Morgan (Morgan is always the name of the Avatar/My Unit/Jaed'rik's offspring, and it's cute), Cynthia and Laurent (Favorite 2nd gen support conversation), Gerome and Noire, Yarne and Nah. Favorite friendship and children/parent support conversations: Jaed'rik and Walhart (This guy is a badass and got 2nd on the NA character polls despite his limited role as both a late game unit and enemy boss), Frederick and Chrom, Anna and Tiki (olololol stupid socialists), Rukina and Cynthia (sisters), Cordelia and Sumia, Noire and Libra (Generic father conversation), Olivia and Inigo, and many escape my mind.
Spoilers be done.
And the music, auh laudie that music. It has a TON of originals and pieces for cutscenes and special occasions, but few for generic occasions, only one for shops, world map, a few for enemy turn phase, and 10 or so battle music including the ablaze varieties (Divine Decree is my almost favorite!), And my favorite piece of music plays at almost every S support conversation scene and some other very opportune times, it is called Itchy Feelings.
Why, why, why, my life, so steeped in music, steeped in emotion, poetry, works of literature, works of beauty and art, the palace of the poor, why does this game above all make my heart ache? Why do I have such connection with every ounce of strength poured and every conviction felt for this game? At many points I was afraid my heart would fail, the frailty of humanity and the power of the mind is such I know, ah, how I wished I'd have died, so many times wrapped in joy, so many times and crossroads, the decisions one has to make, even in the game itself, I wish I would have given the Emblem to spare her life, I wish I had not accepted that judgement. . . But those are for another playthrough, another reality, another time. This game gives the feeling of a truly legendary story, such immersion and depth at a very easy and minor suspension of disbelief. Let me not ask why, then, a question that no one can answer, simply let me rejoice.
