All that come to mind are the STALKER games. I need suggestions.
RE doesn't count cuz it's not scary.

That's gonna be a hard combo to find. RPG mechanics and horror games don't really mesh that well.

With the right mods any RPG can become a horror RPG. Yes, I know it's not an RPG; in fact this guy could very well be pulling a few legs. Point in case it's possible to turn games into horror games with the right tools.

The scariest thing about DeadSpace was 30FPS on PC and turning V-Sync broke the game. Isn't Bethesda coming out with one... Not sure if it's an RPG.

The "get showered in gear" bit seem unlikely; even is he was Mrs Doubtfire her/himself. "Does anyone have gear I could borrow or something?" can either be paraphrased from a longer speech, because that sure as heck would look suspicious. The dad who works with Disney is unlikely but not entirely impossible. Still it's an entertaining read... aaand in hindsight it's pretty irrelevant to the thread so I'm just going to delete that.

Initially tries to build a creepy atmosphere, later on becomes mostly gory and tense (which is not that bad of a thing; you can't have the entire game feel scary) It's mechanically just sound
Machine for pigs is mostly bent on providing a creepy story. If you liked Dear Esther then you'll like this. Unfortunately I didnt and the plot twist is pretty obvious from the start And the actual horror part is put on the background so much that it all falls apart. It makes the mistake of letting you identify the monsters both visually and through the story; actual gameplay is still as clunky as The Dark Descent was (and without small intrecies like hiding places and sanity) As a sequel to Amnesia it's a very dissappointing game. As something standalone it's okay if you like the indie kind of story driven games

Dear Esther gave me AIDS.
I just got OutMouse. We'll see how it goes.
Now to just wait for Condemned 3.

tell me if you liked it, I think it's great especially early to mid
end game is kinda meh but that's kind of a given with horror games
