My test results show that the Commando perk DOES have an effect on the Riot Shield. I haven't tested to see if it has the same magnitude of effect as it does on the knife, but it does help a lot.
My rough estimate is that Commando doubles the melee range of the Riot Shield.
As for the testing, my friend and I faced eachother, he had Commando and I had Ninja. We separated until I couldn't charge at him. I meleed, but no charge, then he meleed and it did charge.
Any one know how to test how much Commando effects the Riot Shield?

Den came up with exact melee range stats on normal and Commando; I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to find some for the shield as well.

it should be the same, but its not "intended"
its a bit screwy, instead of leaping, sometimes i've had it just do the shield bash and hit a guy that was like an additional 5 feet away

Of course it does... the riot shield is a melee attack. In fact it snearly unusable without commando

Im pretty sure Commando doesn't do jack for the riot shield.

Den says "Commando adds 176 units of measurement to the range of the 128 unit lock distance of the melee charge."
But I'm sure that I'm wrong so check his page or the .gsc rips.

definetly. Using the shield in hardcore search I found there to be a huge difference.

It sure does feel like it does something. maybe its in my head Not in your head -- at least on console. Commando increases range from 8ft to 12ft. So, a 1.5 multiplier on the shield. |

Does commando increase for tactical knife aswell?
i dont feel it goes as far as normal knife, but it may just be a visual thing

i think an increase on console also. i rack up rs melee kills with CP on. i get next to nothing without it. always get sidestepped & swiped without it. With it i get the first bash which will lead to the second  akimbo magnums that fire together are sweet too  so many good class loadout choices for the riot shield. |
