Oddly enough I've spent like the past week watching Spyro and Crash speed-runs. Didn't even know about this marathon. I'll probably stick around for the Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine runs on the 29th, but not much else.
Scratch that; I've just realised that those runs will be at 4:53am and 9:03am respectively. I doubt I'll be awake for either of those.

I don't really give a shit about speedruns either. I'd rather play the game myself than watch someone else rush through using glitches and exploits.

Personally I don't mind speed-runs as long as they're under 30 minutes long. It gets REALLY fun to watch when the player finds a modicum of glitches in the game, and exploits them so badly that the game is almost unplayable at times. I'm not saying that beating Fable in 7 hours is NOT an amazing feat, but on the same token... 7 hours is a long time. There's other things on the internet that are more interesting, and I can only imagine the most hard core let's-play fans taking onto this sort of thing.

I think Speedruns is a pretty cool guy, eh goes fast and doesn't afraid of sequence breaking
The ones that break the game and/or abuse mechanics in crazy ways are worth watching, whether it be natural or tool-assisted.
Just going quickly through it is boring, and many games just aren't well suited to the concept of completion in the shortest possible time (mostly because no matter how fast you go, there's just a lot of downtime and redundancy), but going plaid through a wall and manipulating success on a 1/65535 chance item drop and killing the final boss in one tenth of a second is neat.

I only watch speed-runs of a few games (Spyro, Crash, Mario) but I like watching two kinds of speed-runs: - Any% runs that make heavy use of shortcuts, skips, glitches, etc. Typically <45 minutes.
- 100% runs that are basically just parkour-like jumps and tricks. Typically 2-3 hours.
I also love watching TAS runs of both just because everything is just so astonishingly perfect.

Unfortunately I only got to watch YSG/BlueGlass and his Ecco the Dolphin Time sequel thingy hilarity, that was funny, and some Sonic stuff with that one swearing guy. Mostly this stuff has been plain funny, some cool. Now is Pokemon LeafGreen/FireRed, I hope I didn't miss Go1den and SMW.
