Just because every so often Crash and Spyro seem to crop up in other threads. Now we have a place to discuss them if anyone has anything to say.

I played Crash: Nitro Kart for the Gamecube as a kid, but that was it. I liked the game, I wasn't good at drifting, but it was a well-made cart game. I also remember beating Velo by milliseconds on the first try; we were literally side by side crossing the finish line. Also Coco is moé. , also for the life of me I can't find a good furry pic of Crash.

SweetWater, I'm assuming you watched the pilot episode of Button's Adventures by JanAnimations? If yes, did you catch the Spyro reference at ~0:22?

I never got into Spyro; TBH I'm not really into a lot of fan-made content by the MLP community. I get in touch with a few other MLP fanartists, and that's really about it.

Crash and Spyro were my first real video games. I liked how they had demos tying the two franchises. Back in the old days, little dummy didn't play video games, was homeschooled, and only played various sports. When he went over his aunt's house he watched his mom play the first Crash bandicoot all the way to the final boss. Later he asked "can I try playing this, mommy?"
Hooked for life.
I beat the first crash, the second one, and eventually the third one when it came out. I also played all the spyros up to ripto's rage. Spyro's speedy element was sweet... I wasn't even aware of sonic. Then I became the worst kind of completionist. I wanted to get every gem, crystal, time relic, etc... and I did. Then, CTR came out. That thing has some insane replayability. Nitro Kart was alright, but not better than the original.

Crash and Spyro were my first real video games. I liked how they had demos tying the two franchises. Same story here, pal - although I started on Crash 3 and Spyro 2. I've played the first ~40% of Crash 1 and Crash 2, but for whatever reason they just didn't keep me hooked like Warped did. Spyro 1 is a tragic story: I have a copy of it, but I don't think it's official and my consoles have never been able to read it. I've watched various 100% speed-runs of it though, so the urge to buy it never became too big. Then I became the worst kind of completionist. I wanted to get every gem, crystal, time relic, etc... and I did. They did exactly the same thing to me. I can't play through a Spyro or Crash game without collecting everything in sight the first time I visit a level. Obviously I could just complete the level as per the story, defeat the various bosses, and then come back to 100% the levels - but I'd much rather collect everything first time 'round to minimise back-tracking. If it's absolutely necessary to back-track a level, then I do everything else that the level has to offer just so I know that when I do come back, there's only one thing I need to focus on.

I just completed Spyro: Year Of The Dragon 117% again for like the fourth time and felt like sharing. I started Spyro 2 on Saturday, completed it 100% Sunday. Then I started Spyro YOTD Sunday and completed it today. I thought this year I'd take my time with it instead of grinding it all in a ~10 hour session like I've done before.

Same here for these games being my first real games. Hardly remember much about them though. It has been too long. Final fantasy 7 and yoshi's island bring back alot of nostalgia too. Awesomeist boss ever.

I did manage to get a gist of the Crash series through Crash Team Racing and a demo of Crash Bash. Even as a youngun, I knew the karting game was well-above average so I was quite competitive. Furthermore, much of my time with said party game revolved mostly around Polar Panic. Even if it was incomplete, it was enough. Seriously, just... the music should speak by itself. Lots of stupid fun memories.
As for Spyro, it never really came by my radar at first, yet when it did in form of commercials I found it unengaging. Then again, that was around the time I got huge into Banjo Kazooie, so there's the culprit no doubt.

I think now would be a good (or bad, depending on how you view it) time to say that I've never played Crash Team Racing or Crash Nitro Kart. I've played Crash Tag Team Racing, but I think that's a fair-bit different. I should probably go and play Crash Team Racing or Nitro Kart soon.
