Oh hell I now LOVE these things! hehe The other night I was planting them in Karachi on that dark ramp up to the little roost next to the tactical loitering building with stairs out back and a ladder up the side. Some guy caught the first one in his backside and went vendetta on me, only I usually had two up and was refreshing with OMA:Pro as soon as I dropped one so I'd have a fresh one to plant every time he came. I just kept mixing up where exactly I put them and I must have killed him 5 times without even seeing him. hehe! Hell I only died because I finally let him come up the ramp after he detonated one on the top of it. I proned and hoped I'd pop him in the head when he came up but I should have known better than to give him the lag compensation advantage. Honestly I should have just dropped down, run around and knifed him while he was checking the ramp to make sure there weren't more claymores. hehe Fun!
I really love using them to help lockdown the house on Estate too. I've been tactical loitering that house hard just because it draws so much traffic it's a meat machine. It's like an objective even in TDM. hehe And for some silly reason nobody seems to ever use the less than obvious entrances. I get semi annoyed because I have to replace my front door claymore every 30 seconds. heh
BTW when I was trying to plant them above the stairs up from the basement I noticed that you actually plant the claymore in front of you rather than directly beneath you. That's why you are always safe from your own when you plant it as long as you don't move. But it also means that if you plant one too close to an edge it goes down below instead of where you are. I don't know how far down you can drop them, maybe there is no limit. Should be easy to test.
I just thought that might be useful to know for anybody tactical loitering in a building where you can get on some sort of a walkway or something overhanging entrances, so you can replant without having to come down. I don't know that it would be all that useful in practice, however. If it's a walkway then you'll be pretty far out from the wall and can't face it towards the wall.
Oh on that last Estate game I played I also saw a great claymore fail. Someone on my team dumped theirs right next to the door, but facing the wall. heh
