I am just wonder what the exact effects are of the grips.
How do they decrease recoil?
Does it help hip fire spread? Does it help ADS spread?
Do they tighten a single grouping of a shotgun or just help with shooting multiple times?

I've notice at any decent distance, with a LMG, without the grip it take three bullets (the second always misses) and I have to squeeze the trigger twice but with it it's a guaranteed. This goes for the three 2 hit LMG's with SP and when laying on the trigger I notice a big difference in all three you mentioned. Not sure about shot guns, don't use.

I use grip on my rpd and aug (only lmg's I use) and I don't use em on the shotguns (especially the spas 12)

Yes, in general, less recoil will help with spread. It especially is noticeable when ADS. You seem much more "accurate." As for hip, I'm not sure. For shotguns, they do not tighten a single group. It only reduces screen kick. So, in a way, it helps with multiple shots because you are re-centered quicker.

more likely than not, grip reduces the maximum allowed view kick angle.

thanks guys the view kick thing kinda reinforced my experience with the grip. The aug seems better ADS long range with it attached. I wasn't sure about the hip fire and I'm trying to decide if steady aim is needed along with the grip. This kinda limits my aug class to:
bling (red dot / grip) stopping power steady aim
so basically 2 of my perks are used up to control this gun. Although it is highly deadly med/long range with this setup.
Anyone got any good aug classes to try out that works well for you? I know SP is probably not needed but with this gun I like accentuating the strengths it has over AR's

I usually just roll with irons for the AUG. I think SoH:Pro helps more than the RDS. I suppose SA might help in those oh shit moments so you can spray up close, but I rarely spray it in hipfire. I'm not sure what you might prefer, though. Commando might be useful in really close up oh shit moments, but meh. Ninja is usually my fav just so enemies are a little less aware of me. Last stand can be useful, but most people know to keep shooting you so you don't often get too many last stand kills unless you pair it with CB:Pro. Well it works great against noobs. ;p
I'd say the AUG doesn't really NEED a grip for medium range, but I like hitting people at longer ranges and it's a great help for that. I actually don't know if it helps in hipfire too or not. The crosshairs do spread out as you shoot though so I kinda think it probably helps.
As for what the grip actually, technically does. I thought I read that for ADS it increases centerspeed.

The grip reduces effective recoil by increasing the speed at which your view recenters after having shot.

My favourite AUG class is similar, as:
AUG HBAR w/ Grip + Thermal Scope Sidearm Equipment Bling Stopping Power Steady Aim
2 hit kills at all ranges, all of which it does not have any trouble hitting accurately at. There is a very small weak spot in the short-medium range area where hipfire will stop being efficient and scope often not efficient enough (although not at all useless).
Thermal is just for the sake of getting a scope on it, if I could have a regular I would probably take it. I hate giving free camo on arctic maps.

re the shotties; I use the M1014 shotty as soon as I can after prestiging and i've unlocked grip and it doesnt seem to do a lot - I prefer to use extended mags as you can't beat having 2 extra shells in the M1014 and I use that as soon as I unlock it

I unlocked Grip for the M1014 and I still use it, but it doesn't have as large effect as for the Striker. The change between Grip and no Grip for the Striker is unbelieveable.

I've noticed that too. The AUG doesn't seem to benefit from the Grip attachement that much, or at least not as much as the other LMGs, but is has the least recoil out of all of them anyway. I'm not an LMG fan, but I like using the RPD every now and again, and the Grip makes a big difference. The fact that with SP you can get a 2 hit kill from miles away is great fun.

I'm having some weird experiences with the grip on the RPD, specifically with bling, I noticed that I tend to get more recoil with thermal and grip than thermal with an other attachment

Read as: I know jack shit about LMGs because I've never used any of them before but I'm going to pretend like I do and say AUG has the least recoil.

It sort of does because it increases centerspeed. That means that your view get's the same kick, but the gun centers faster.
Thus the more accurate the weapon already is the less it will benefit from a grip. Having said that I still tend to use a grip on the AUG, but mainly because I don't use it like other AUG's. I use it with SP and go for longer range engagements with it. It's nice 2 hit killing anyone I can see.
Even the FAM16 which can 1 burst kill with SP will hit a range limit beyond which you cannot make that 3rd bullet in the burst hit without lots of luck.
The recoil on the AUG is still quite noticeable at long range and the grip does help there. It can be the difference between burst firing it and going full auto.

I haven't used the gripped LMG's for long-range, but I wouldn't doubt the Grip helping there. But, if one likes to spray and pray (ADS and Hip), it does help for a couple seconds per spraying session. :X
