Obligatory "any PS4 bros still playing or wish to continue" post. The game is pretty decent now.

Can confirm. I returned fairly recently when 1.4 released. Gear sets drops have improved dramatically from the vanilla days that there's actually a reason to ask Massive to make a gear save function in the game. So, for example, you can select Dark Zone and that selects your Alpha Bridge or Banshee sets. I run a 4-piece Nomad, 2-piece Alpha Bridge for the high risk weekly HVT missions. Sometimes I run a 3-piece Striker, 3-piece Sentry when I do the daily HVT missions. Every weekly reset, the vendors have had decent stuff being sold to make it worth doing activities that reward Phoenix Credits until this week. Assault rifles are the meta and you should go after a Lightweight M4, ACR or G36C. Decent weapon perks to roll for assault rifles would be Destructive, Uncomplicated, Responsive, Competent, Unforgiving, Brutal, and Ferocious. If you want Ferocious, roll for that in the free third slot as it has a high Electronics cost. Invest in Stamina as a priority, and only invest in Firearms to unlock your desired weapon talents.
Get rid of weapon mods that have critical hit damage and buy stuff that have headshot damage. Critical hit damage was changed from being multiplicative to additive so it is not as useful as it used to be. The Pakhan is a solid gun and is always sold by the Special Weapons vendor in the Base of Operations, but the intrinsic damage roll can change when there's a vendor refresh. The intrinsic damage roll being the out of cover damage bonus for LMGs.
Two friends I play with use the Defence build, which allows you to use an SMG as a sidearm when you deploy a ballistic shield. It's a handy build to solo farm Lexington if you are after Larae Barrett's vest, and I will probably be doing that myself soon when I get a full set. Recalibrating weapons and armour appear to be reasonable with costs, although the cost of each subsequent re-roll increases and there is a maximum of eight re-rolls for weapons.

Thanks wings, but none of that makes any sense to me. Pure gibberish. I need a "how to get started in The Division" guide. Give me a wittyscorpion guide any day of the week. Come on, Witty, play The Division.

Come on, Witty, play The Division. A lot has changed since vanilla. Essentially, you can play most of the game and get gear set pieces. Even XP means something now where you get a Field Proficiency cache upon ranking up, like Destiny's Mote of Light system, that can give you a high-end item or a gear set piece. If you still want to min/max, there will still be a significant grind like with all loot shooters, but it's not much of a job if you want gear sets. The weapon 'balance' is a bit meh though, but I think that is to be expected with a game that mixes PvP and PvE. Always find it odd that players expect balance in loot shooters where combat efficiency is influenced by RNG, either by armour or by weapon availability, but there you go. The D3-FNC set is awesome to solo challenging content. This allows you to use an SMG as a sidearm when you use a ballistic shield, instead of a pistol.

I knew this game had a cover-based shooter component, but didn't realize how heavily. I started playing the other night, but didn't find the style enjoyable, at least while playing solo. On the first boss fight I kept dying just trying to move from cover to cover. Might take me a while to get into this game.

I could help but I suspect enemy scaling means they will be immune to your damage. If it is the Hudson Refugee Camp, wait until you try it on challenging mode. It is basically only soloable if you are running the D3-FNC set, otherwise the axe wielding cleaners will wipe you out. I think the fight with Joe Ferro is better because you can use cover better.

Get a group via matchmaking for anything. Pro Tip: Set group privacy to "Open" and start any activity. You will be group leader and the game will try to fill your group with others. The benefit is that you can't be kicked for appearing to be under geared, and you can kick afk'rs or idiots.

Final Stand DLC is really fun. Normalized PvP, with teams and matchmaking. No worries over teammates stabbing you in the back or trying to extract loot. The game mode is much like Domination or Control, with NPCs thrown into the mix. Surprised I like it, was kind of meh hearing about it. I'm also relieved 1.6 wasn't the gloom and doom expected by the Gafredditors. My gear and weapons are all still quite viable. Pro patch for PS4 quite lovely as well. Game looks amazing now.

Apparently Tactician and Dead Eye Gear Sets are really good in Last Stand. I might give Last Stand a try, although I will be kept busy by the heroic incursions and legendary story missions.

Oh yeah, did three Weekly Assignments that require me to farm The Pit in the Dark Zone last week (and this week too). I haven't come across 3 or 4-man Rogue teams so that looks like that was partly down to the matchmaking instance. Got the Shortbow kneepads (my second, first was given to me by a friend) and Joe Ferro's Mask (my third). I forget the other drop but it could have been a new MC Skulls gloves, which can roll Skill Haste (pre-1.6 ones cannot). Looks like a lot of work has gone into making the Dark Zone.

Look out for the Striker and Final Measure gear sets. Striker for the classified bonus and Final Measure for making Dragon's Nest a lot easier.

Look out for the Striker and Final Measure gear sets. Striker for the classified bonus and Final Measure for making Dragon's Nest a lot easier. I have no idea what that means, but I will keep an eye out for them thanks Dragon's Nest is the second Incursion (requires DLC if I remember correctly) and the Classified gear sets are currently dropping from the global event, from a selection of four gear sets. These offer bonuses if you wear five or six pieces of the same gear set. You can also get these as random drops from world bosses, which spawn onnce every four hours when you have cleared enough of the side missions of his or her particular area. The best source to farm these outside of the global events, is the resistance game mode. I like the Final Measure gear set for Dragon's Nest because it provides an epic reduction of incendiary damage from NPCs. When I used to farm it frequently with friends they were using first aid and health statiosn to prevent themselves dying while I was too busy shooting stuff with barely my first third of my health bar gone. Space magic.

Unfortunately I don't have a full classified gear set yet as I only recently came back so I don't know how good it is. I only realised a few hours ago the daily and weekly HVTs offer GE credits and they are on a per character basis so I'm spamming the most economical ones across each character, since GE credits are account-wide, before the event ends as that will take me to close to using up all my intel. Edit: I'm aware that Hudson Refugee Camp on legendary is the best for maximum returns and I have done it solo but I like to mix it up. Plus those axe wielding cleaners that arrive after I killed the boss are annoying.

Yeah I've done the wave 10 resistence cache twice when I teamed up with someone I used to run Falcon Lost weekly with during the rough days. Planning to spam missions until I've bought about 100 Superior caches.

I highly recommend letting bradman and his army of Flaming BB-8's power level you from 6 to 23 while going the jumping jack emote and just making sure that you're not holding him and the 2 other rando's when you need to get into the elevator of that one mission with the crazy black lady boss who says "well, ain't this some shit!" Even better, having bradman and the 2 other randos drop gold and purple gear for you... again: all while doing the jumping jack emote. I mean, I did send out pulses and stayed out of harms way (sometimes) and occasionally scratched level 34 mobs with my level 11 marksman rifle. But my key contribution... of course... were the jumping jacks BTW... is there some sort of Division Inventory Manager API 3rd party app or something for the game? Because if there isn't... someone needs to make that happen... it's a gold mine waiting to be tapped. Hell, I'd pay for the app and I've played the game for... 15 hours? and I don't know how any of you can play it longer than that without some sort of app? In some ways, it might for the best tho, as I might lose my job, house, and family using it 25/8/366
