I doubt we will have portable laser guns anytime in the near future.

Black Ops had a load of 'futuristic' guns, even if many of them were in prototype stage, e.g. L96.

I doubt we will have portable laser guns anytime in the near future. The Guardian is based on an actual crowd-control weapon (It's called the Active Denial System or ADS). What's to say that can't be put in a smaller, longer ranged package in the future? Sure, it may not be weapons firing weaponized lasers and plasma but it's still a directed-energy weapon.

Are you an apple fanboy too? Defend it all you want but from the looks of things....
COD-AW: First person military shooter gone full retard.
I will buy and play it but my 9-10 days on Ghosts is the lowest of the last 4 CODs by a LOT.
This series has turned meh.

This series has already been set in the future with the Modern Warfare series and Ghosts. I don't hear people whining about all that shit in these games as to how far fetched they are (Heartbeat sensors and Tracker Sights in particular). Complaining about a series that's evolving when people have begged it to over the years only makes you look like the one who's gone full retard.

it's still about as close to a "ray gun" as a laser pointer. One of the Wright brothers once said that aircraft would never go from New York to France, then over half a decade later we're landing on the moon. Don't doubt the future of technology and remember that this game is set 40+ years from now. How much shit do you think we have now that people from 40 years ago would have believed to ever exist in the future?

I doubt we will have portable laser guns anytime in the near future. 2014 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_Weapon_SystemAnd "The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is developing a laser weapon similar to the LaWS for use on ground vehicles for the U.S. Marine Corps as part of the Ground-Based Air Defense Directed Energy On-The-Move (G-BAD DE OTM) program" And this now, AW takes place 30 years from now

If this post-modern phase ends and somehow go back to WW2, it's definitely going to have the 'alternate history route' that Wolfenstein did to make things interesting. I doubt the game would sell if we went back to a simple brushed-up version of WaW.

He didn't even say anything. "I doubt we will have portable laser guns anytime in the near future." You literally quoted Mousey, and then you said it wasn't a response to Mousey. I didn't even say anything after my original post that you replied to already.

The new movement is all I care about.
Titanfall raised the bar, and COD is responding. I approve.

Just because the AK was originally produced in the 60's, doesn't mean that the actual gun that the character is using was 50ish years old... it's just the design

Using guns from the 60s, 70s & 80s? Well, "near future", but yeah...the military used the M1911 up until the 80's when it was replaced by the Berretta. The M14 has come out retirement in the last decade. The SVD still sees use, we still can't replace the M4/M16 platform despite trying, and not all factions in the MW series were elite military personnel using cutting edge technology. I mean shit any game that features the AN94 or XM8 are flat out bunk both countries dropped the adoption of them for cost reasons. EDIT: Also AW is about PMCs who get paid a helluva lot more then the military and may be more likely to invest in more futuristic technology especially because Spacey's character is trying to take over the world

Instead of a pick 13 system we can have a pick 50 system, and you can literally pick anything you want.
Why? Because now we have the Call of Duty the trading card game; it's just what we needed.

Using the brain to transmit things isn't even knew. Anyone subscribed to Vsauce2 and watches Mind Blow knows shit like this is possible. We already have prosthetic limbs that are controlled by brain function (albeit, most of them are a prototype of some kind). Sending emails can't be much harder. I never said this stuff was brand new. I was only trying to point out things like this already exist, to people who might be complaining that CoDAW is to far in the future. That was the point of my thread.

CoDAW is too far into the future for me. I read the links. If I want to play spaceman, I can play Halo or Destiny. I'm also sick of Michael Myers and the Predator in CoD, and I hate zombies. The series is quickly circling the drain.

I was meaning to prove your point further, in that what most people think is "future" technology is actually being developed or is available right now. Exo-Skeletons, devices that make use of the brain transmitting signals, etc. People see something in a video game or movie and think it's way too far-fetched to ever exist when it's probably in existence already.

I think we'll be too futuristic when furries are a thing in Call of Duty. "People don't want freedom. They want to scratch the mesh in your patio door and nap on your bed when you need to sleep."

The series is quickly circling the drain. It sounds like you are conflating issues. The silliness and ridiculously OP rewards listed above have nothing really to do with the future. Just IW bungling game balance issues. Yet another botched idea by IW with Ghosts. While I personally had nothing against Micheal Meyers or aliens (I found it funny), I did think it was a bit stupid in the game balancing, as on many occasions a game balance would change, just because some asshat got some 'lean kill' or other challenge that had nothing to do with the game mode. That sh1t is stupid on every level. If you want to put in silly OP rewards into the game, at least make them based on playing the game. Like give Micheal Meyers to the first person who gets 6 dom caps. Or 15 KC tags. Make the reward based on the game. Not silly sh1t. Who was it a few weeks ago that said these developers at the companies are smart people? As far as the 'spaceman' stuff. Come on. Almost all of the AW stuff is based on technology in practice today or ideas being drawn up. If you hate the future, you are essentially hating the time period you live in now.
