I assume that there are bros out there who want no spoilers for their very first Raid experience. To prevent this from accidentally happening, let's limit all discussions of "Vault of Glass" inside this thread.

More info:

1) Raid is accessible to guardians below level 26, although strongly discouraged by Bungie;

2) Raid event has no end date. Progress will be reset weekly;

3) After the Raid is completed ar normal difficulty, it can be attempted again on hard;

Bungie is intentionally keeping Raid related info in tight wraps, because they want the players to stumble and figure out everything by themselves.

We will know soon enough once the gate is open.

Several try-hard teams have been at it for 8 hours, and nobody has beat it yet. According to Bungie tweeter, two teams living streaming on Twitch are showing promise:

Watched a few minutes of Datto's stream (which seems to be further along according to the viewers of the stream), went away to do something else, came back after 1 hour, and they seem to be still stuck at the same spot...

The Raid is definitely not for the impatient. Rage quit probably will be a common practice . Keep in mind that this is at normal difficulty, which is supposed to be like a warm up for the "hard" according to Bungie.

It took them 38,523 seconds (10 hours, 42 mins). The six of them died a total of 1,606 times. Minimum deaths was 244, max was 281.

Datto's group just beat it, most likely the 2nd team that crossed the finish line.

Watched Datto's stream at the end to see what loot he got. Everybody got the special shader and "Ascendant Shard", no direct legendary and exotic rewards. He did get one piece of legendary out of a cryptogram.

We started 2ish hours later than we wanted to and without the planned team. We made it to the final boss then people had to call it quits til tommorow.

Btw. The minions/bosses are not super powerful. I can guarantee you that 90% of those deaths come from oracle deaths. (autokill the whole team if all aren't cleared within time limit.

In the meantime, we beat this week's nightfall as well.

Just unlocked this so I had unlocked it later than other people so I have no idea what the criteria is. If it is not as hard as Horde on Gears of War 3 on insane difficulty on Rustlung then I will give it a try.

Edit: Seen a Youtube video discussing some of it and there was a suggestion of anspecific reptile mentioned including a vault. LOL if true. I guess with that, and purple and gold gear, I should be used to it.

How does it work if you started with 1 group and then had to switch to another? Restart from the scratch? What if you are the group leader?

From what I read Bungie said progress was saved via the leader.

Does that mean the other members of the original group that did not finish will have to start over or can they continue from where they got to if they lead a group?

Yeah I ended up raiding with 2 seperate groups. One completed. One did not. Fireteam leaders have the save state for the raid tied to their character.

So what exactly is the raid? A strike with more powerful enemies and time limits?

It's like 3 strikes in one mission with rewards interspersed. The enemies aren't really more powerful. If you are level 26 you should be able to kill a Praetorian. The difficulty lies in the fact that the raid disorients you. Each player should have a job, but the game will not outright tell you what job you need to have. Raids require two entirely different skillset than everything else in Destiny: Problem Solving and Administration.

This is why there is no public matchmaking for raids and why there should never be any public matchmaking for raids.

People wouldn't even get past the main gate.

We got stepped on. Hard.

Hard mode Raid denies revives...meaning you die once...you are done until the next checkpoint. Enemies are very difficult and trash mobs take many shots to kill. It really is amazing how much 1 or 2 levels is a huge difference.

My twitter stream (which is consisted of many Destiny figures) has been silent on beating VoG on hard. I think that it is safe to assume that nobody are able to do it yet (otherwise it will be all over the twitter-sphere).

We stepped into this PS4-side largely blind last night. I bowed out for bed after we entered the shield down/DPS phase of the first boss. I believe they went on for some time with a replacement; I'll see if I can get someone to post about it.

Dumien, what level would you recommend a group be to realistically attempt to clear the raid on normal without a ton of difficulty/frustration (outside of getting the communication and mechanics down)? I'm wondering if it would make sense to try to get a group together to at least clear the "raising the spire" stage of the raid to get some cheap rewards from the first chest before the reset tomorrow, then maybe give it a real shot at completion next week. My brother and I are both at 25 right now. I could be 26 if I upgraded but I've been hoarding my shards for the time being. Anybody else thinking about giving it a go soon?
