In other PvP related posts, we are talking about the pains of not having "Marvel" grade stats. After all, how can we call ourselves Den Kirson bros without obsessing on stats? Unfortunately Destiny does not have a PC version so we cant get easy data from files. However, the damage numbers are shown in game so we can collect stats ourselves. I propose the following to all Den bros: 1) Pick your favorite weapons (by feel), fully upgrade it, take a sceen shot of the weapon info page, and go into Crucible; 2) Record some game play clips that contain both non-crit shots (white) and crit shots (gold). Keep in mind not all crit shots are equal, different body parts may have different crit stats; 3) Post a simple reply to this thread with the following info for each weapon: a) Weapon info screen; b) Crit damage stats; c) Non crit damage stats; With enough data collected, we can compare and analyze to our heart's content! Let's become Mavel ourselves or die trying

For what its worth, people were pulling data from the files back in beta. Some of the wiki pages still have some of the beta stats up (but are outdated as of release).
It might be helpful if we put together some 6-man teams and run them into Rumble to test out stuff. TTK between higher-impact, slower-shooting autos versus lower-impact, faster-shooting autos would be gold. There's got to be a sweet spot.

I tried and did this. Took a few minutes. I have two videos showing damage with some of the Full Autos. Mine with Shingen C. And a video that was put up showing some relationships with armor and stuff (it's on the board), talking about the Sahara. From those.
- My Shingen C seems to do +14 damage at distance. And +24 damage up close. - The Sahara A3 was shown doing +11 damage on the video, up close. They say it's the weakest AR.
If I look at the bar graphs on the Bungie website,...I took a ruler and just measured the distance of each bar. Scale of 1-10
-----------------RoF---Imp--Rang--Stab---Rel--- ----------------------------------------------- Sahara A3 .....- 10.0 - 0.3 - 1.9 - 2.8 - 6.3 Shingen C .....- 08.8 - 0.9 - 2.5 - 7.2 - 5.3 Cydonia AR3...- 07.5 - 2.8 - 2.2 - 5.0 - 5.3
I have been using the Shingen C all exclusively in my PvP. I shouldn't really be using this gun.
I do have all three of those full autos still in my loadout. I can test the damages tonight in the crucible, just for shits and giggles.

Dumb question, but are destiny's weapons bars as borked as COD's, or is it too early to tell?

Actually... They seem to represent real stats, at least some of the bars, like impact do. I remember in beta someone had screen capped the stats from nearly every weapon available at the time and measured the pixels in the graphs, then derived the damage formulas for PvP and PvE based on that and testing.

I think that's largely due to vague upgrade descriptions and possibly some effects not being reflected in the bars. Also some of the stat bars are certainly more derivative than others. Like sniper rifles with different range bars when we know none of them have damage drop over distance, and stability seems suspect as well. They're never going to give us all the individual stats that control recoil, though. That would be far too complex.
Impact seems to be pretty solid, though, and hopefully so is RoF.

I suspect range also factors aim assist distance. DestinyDB appears to have stats for aim assist, but I'm not sure where they're getting the numbers from. Does mag size make a difference as far as damage is concerned? (ie, will the same gun with a smaller mag do more damage than the version with the larger mag).

I did a little looking into this. destinytracker.com will show the numerical values for the in game bar stats. But we all know how questionable the bars can be.
A few points. 1. Like CoD, Destiny rates of fire seem to be limited by frame rates. Bungie seems to not have tried to get any intermediate values and so for automatic weapons we'll see only a few rates of fire. For auto rifles there are typically three options; 900, 600, 450 rpm. The slower firing while ads weapon mod drops the rof to 300 rpm. 2. Bungie has tried to normalize time to kill. So, rate of fire ties to damage. Assuming 200 health all auto rifles take 0.8s for all headshots or 1.2s for all body shots. rpm - damage - headshot 900 - 11 - 16 600 - 15 - 24 450 - 22 - 32 300 - 30 - 45
Someone did a bit of testing on the armor stat and found that with minimum armor it took 18, 11 damage hits to kill and 20 for max armor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgoDqz1ZnvA) I assume there is some rounding or truncation in the displayed damage values so that still gives a bit of a range for possible health.

Figured this should go here. Armor-piercing rounds penetrate objects with no damage drop off. Evidence:
