So the last couple of days, the XB1 has been making some weird noises. They got worse. Then last night, some loud 'clicking-like' sounds emanating from the machine. It sounded like a bomb was going to go off. Giving me fears of an IED like device exploding, sending ascendant shards all over my room, killing everyone. I can't have that. So it's off to Best Buy I go, taking my beloved XB1 with me. Apparently it couldn't handle my continuing grind on Destiny. That's sad. My family? They are probably happy that I will be taking a break.
I'm out of action for the next five business days. Then gone for the weekend. The grind was real, but is now over for a while. Hopefully they just give me a new Xbox One, but I probably won't know until next week.
I will now have to find something to fill my gaming time with.

Sorry to hear that man.
Have you tried alcohol? I've found it to be a great way to fill time.

Very sorry to hear that.
Looks like The Darkness strikes back, that's probably how it gets to The Traveler as well (provided The Traveler is not part of The Darkness, the jury is still out on that)
On a serious note, this incident does not speak well to XONE. Keep us updated about how it goes.

Beauty and the Beast But of course, if anyone else calls you Beast, I'll rip their lungs out.... quick... name the movie without Google!!! Batman (Tim Burton). All the Jack Nicholson Joker lines are far too easy, my friend. ;3 Of course I can nearly quote most of them from memory having grown up watching that movie over and over. heh

It seems you found the one thing which was even more upset about crucible than yourself, choking itself in the process. Give your blue engram to the cryptarch already and he may even give you a legendary PS4 in return.

I have a subgrappling tournament this weekend in Ohio, so I would have been gone anyways. I do say that now, but.....it is only day 1. We'll see if I have the shakes by next Monday after going six or seven more days. Who knows by then, as I was only 2 Light pieces away from Level 28. To now have to wait a week....uhhh...let's just wait and see. As far as the PS4. Can't do that. I like CoD to much and after last year, watching the PSN shut down in like four clan war weekends, wouldn't want to risk that. I am going to get a PS4 down the road though.

Serious question. Is everything backed up in the Bungie cloud? I've had a weird flip with the ps4 today. If I have to return I hope the grind is recoverable (for both of us obviously. )

If I have to return I hope the grind is recoverable (for both of us obviously. ) Don't worry, you will be able to recover everything. Why do I have such optimism? Simple, Destiny fully supports cross gen upgrade, meaning that you can play on PS3, later switch to PS4, and have your entire progress preserved. I know it works because I tested it in the beta by playing on both X360 and XONE. To support this, they must have saved everything on the server side, per PSN ID / XBL GT.

A quick update.
I figured out what was wrong with my Xbox One. It is the power supply, the 'brick', the internal workings of it that are generating the noise. The noise was there a few weeks ago, but then came and went, came back even stronger recently. The past few days, it has gotten much worse. This time i pulled the brick out from behind the XB1 last night and found that it was the source of the noise.
Some calls to Best Buy and Microsoft gave me a lot of conflicting advice earlier today. Advice ranging from it's not the brick, to Best Buy saying i had to bring the whole console in with the brick to be shipped out, and then wait 5 to 7 business days for a new one. Also heard from another Best Buy that i can't get a stand alone brick for replacement, it all comes in one package (brick + console) That is standard Microsoft policy. None of these answers were acceptable. Destiny grinding needs done, and CoD AW comes out on Monday. Long story short, I kept searching for an answer i wanted to hear. I found one over MS chat line. Some tech-help person who said he sympathized with my CoD playing. After some talking, he gave me a code number and what to say when i call Best Buy. Yep. Sure enough, this worked. I mentioned this code, a phrase to say, and suddenly Best Buy was signing a different tune. They said i didn't need to bring my entire console in. Not only that, but Best Buy would even ship me a new brick in three business days, without needing the one i have now. Imagine that. A complete reversal from what i heard from the exact same store, only eight hours earlier today. In fact, i think the person who told me tonight's news, ....was the same guy from earlier this morning. WTF.
Anyways, this person assured me the power brick is not going to explode. I am not in danger of the brick becoming some IED device, killing me and my family in my man cave. It may burn up at some point, maybe even soon, but for now, i can still play on it. It's just going to be noisy.

That's a great story. I may need the secret code and the phrase if I have a problem with my XONE, also bought from Best Buy

Was it a weird code... like: it puts the lotion in the basket?

Was it a weird code... like: it puts the lotion in the basket? LOL "don't worry, I will not let you go without a strong bullet". And then a ten digit reference number that I am supposed to show them/tell them. I was probably being bvllshitted a bit. But I didn't mind saying it. All I know is that Best Buy suddenly were able to give me a stand-alone replacement brick. And then not only that, ship it to me, without me having to bring mine in first.

That sounds like a movie quote...... arg..... Or maybe it's a pardody of Zelda's "It's too dangerous to go alone, take this" meme?
