SUBTITLE: Why you should probably never listen to Bluntz!
Destiny according to Bluntz, the most know-nothing know-it-all I've encountered in any game, ever:
1. The Dark Below released for PS4 on Tuesday, 11/11. It's a timed exclusive for PS4 for a whole month.
2. Bungie has released full patch notes for the upcoming changes mentioned in the 11/7 weekly update. It's on twitter. Go to Destiny's twitter and there's a link to a different site (not Bungie's though) that has the full patch notes. PS4 got these changes already with The Dark Below release.
3. Bungie stealth-patched the raid drops. You used to get a raid gear drop after defending the confluxes before the oracle phase of the Templar fight, but they took that drop out after a couple weeks without saying anything. Just ask Aroc, he'll confirm.
4. Bungie is in full control of Xur's inventory. It's not random at all. Bungie put Sunbreakers in there so many times in a row to troll people. They won't sell Icebreaker again because everyone is using it too much. Same for Gjallarhorn -- it's too good.
5. There's a website that knows Xur's inventory for the upcoming weekend the day before he shows up. It's "somewhere." It's always 100% right. That's how you know Bungie is in control of Xur's inventory -- they leak it to this website beforehand.
6. There are no good Arc weapons right now because all the Dark Below DLC weapons are going to be Arc damage.
7. People joining your solo Nightfall attempt will cause your drop to change. The person joining will get the drop you should have gotten. You should always solo to make sure nobody steals your exotic drop.
8. Every enemy race has a specific damage type they are vulnerable to, regardless of their shield color or any active burn modifiers. They are: Solar for Cabal, Arc for Hive, Void for Vex, and "not sure" for Fallen. Those damage types will do about double the damage of any other damage type vs that specific race of enemy, even when controlling for weapon type/impact/attack differences.
9. Gjallarhorn is so good because the wolfpack rounds do Solar, Arc, and Void damage, not just Solar like the normal rocket. That's why it's so effective against everything, because nothing can counter all 3 damage types.
10. (Not last night, so it's kind of cheating, but whatever) Don't open the spirit bloom chest in the Vault of Glass after the Templar. Doing so puts all the other chests on a timer, so they'll disappear if you don't get to them all in a couple minutes.
All that in a couple hours. Dumien tried to correct him on a point or two, but to no avail. Witty, Dumien, Mal, Stone...feel free to add to the list! I'm sure he dropped plenty more "knowledge" on you after I left last night.

I will add this to the above. I have never ever EVER played a game like Destiny....where soooooooooooooooooo many people are so quick to tell you best how to play the game. Maybe this is because Destiny is a game that does needs players dropping info down to other players, as the game manuals suck? Maybe that's why? But all to often, players just go way overboard in telling each other what to do. It's like everyone ASSUMES everyone else is complete interesting fellow. Seriously, I've been in VoG lobbies where everyone was level 28+, and still had half the group telling the other half how to play, on really basic stuff.
Take last night. I haven't played with BvllDaddy in a while, he must have told me where to stand, what gun to use, where to run, ...like 78 times last night lol. Imentioned I have been shut out on like 16 straight raids (five straight hards)...boom, he's been shut out on 17 straight raids.
The one player I know who is weirdly the opposite of the above? PostMortem. The guy is a walking encyclopedia of Destiny knowledge, but for the most part, almost never speaks up during game play. He's very polite about it.

Nov 12, 2014 8:43:54 GMT -6 iw5000 said: I haven't seen that much outside the VoG, and I understand it there as one person not understanding what they're supposed to do means you wipe. Repeatedly. That goes double for hard mode. For our groups that have run 10 times or more it's not an issue, but you have to remember we're all a lot more seasoned than the average player. There are plenty of people who haven't even done the VoG yet. Others have only done it using cheese methods and legitimately have no idea how the Atheon fight is supposed to work or what their job is. We ran into that with an LFG random last week. He was 28 and had done the raid a few times, yet had no clue that the first oracle in the portals spawns overhead at the top of the stairs, so we wiped a couple times because him and the raid noob we had with us didn't shoot it at all. The same guy also didn't bring any ammo synthesis packs in with him, when making sure you have plenty of ammo is one of the most basic rules of the raid. Sometimes it's just easier to explain that stuff in advance rather than wipe a couple times and have people start getting frustrated because someone doesn't know what they're doing. Unfortunately a lot of stuff that should be common sense just isn't for whatever reason. To your point though, if you mention that you've been shut out that many times, there should be an understanding that you know what you're doing. If not, I'd think a simple "I've ran this 20 times, I know what I'm doing, so you don't have to explain it to me, but thanks anyway" should take care of it. Most of what I said above only goes for people that are new to the raid.

You are 100% right. I tried to preface what I said with that. The nature of the game requires people to constantly be telling each other what to do. And with new people, that can wreck things. But sometimes, that can be a distraction. There's only one voice channel. If person 'x' is telling person 'y' how the Icebreaker has regenerating ammo, how the spirit bloom chest can wipe other chests, lecturing how to go here, there.....that means other meaningful conversation is drowned out.
I should also say, it's not an issue with people I know. It seems to be an issue when being brought around new people. I suppose there is no way around it. If you don't over-explain things to them, ...and just assume, well, we know how assuming goes.

The king of all Destiny knowledge, obviously. But seriously, I'm not exactly sure. I think a friend or clanmate of iw5K if memory serves -- I've just been partied up with him a couple times and had the good fortune of being blessed by his insights into the game, LOL.

I also think #10 is my favorite. I have heard this dozens of times. But worse yet, I have actually watched it get opened every time, and then seen people very late (like Witty getting lost). Nothing. No timer. But yet this is still getting repeated.
is there a website where these rumors get started?

For my part, I try not to explain or direct too much unless it's obviously necessary or somebody asks for guidance. Some people refuse to ask for help or won't admit that they don't know what they should be doing -- or worse yet, just won't do what you ask/need them to do -- and that's where you run into problems. Luckily we haven't had much of that so far, and I don't see it ever being a problem with our group anyway.

Reddit is usually a reliable source of info, and that theory was quickly shot down there. No idea how it's still making the rounds, but that's the internet for you I suppose.

D'aww This thread made me smile. There is a ton of misinformation out there for all sorts of games. Gamefaqs/Bungie Forums/Reddit posts that don't make the front page. Front page itself is solid. I just stopped trying to info-dump on people that aren't my friends.
