I got a high RoF 331 Auto Rifle 'Up for Anything'...I already have one that is leveled up. Insta-shard for me. Got the same, but since I just now got to 20+, I can use it.

I'm preferring my Swarm to the Harm's Way.

I'm preferring my Swarm to the Harm's Way. For PvP or PvE? I assume you are comparing 300 Swarm to 331 Harm's Way? My Harm's Way became obsolete after 1 day - I got the new raid LMG in Arc last night. Shard time for my new Harm's Way...

The raid LMG has the Hive 'shield buster' perk, which is pretty cool.
I can't remember if the Song of Ir Yut is a high RoF or med Rof LMG? I don't like the high RoF guns. Waste to much ammo.

PvE and, while I have not made a direct comparison, I take note of the weapons' performance while I upgrade. Basically I usually upgrade weapons before I get to the Ascendant Energy part and then think carefully before committing as I used to be low on Ascendant Energy. I guess I should upgrade my void Harm's Way to 331 and, if I end up liking it, I can commit Ascendant Energy for my solar Harm's Way too. From what I remember though, I'd prefer my 267 Swarms over 302 Harm's Way so far. My void Swarm has Field Scout so the additional magazine size for Harm's Way isn't much.

The in game stats display is wrong. Song of Ir Yut holds a lot more rounds than 35, and its RoF is on the high side.
You guys are really quick in sharding your non-raid legendary weapons. I am saving my Radiant Energy until all my characters are leveled up to 32, mean while I am relying on these weapons to give me 331 damage.
Swarm is one of the best Machine Guns in the game, even at lower attacks. I still keep it in my arsenal. Let's face it: for end game PvE content we use Rocket Launcher most of the time, MG are usually shelved. In PvP on the other hand MG are more reliable than RL, but you don't need 331 MG to win gun fights.

The last few times I have played Crucible (for bounties and stuff), I have had a ton of success using Jolder's Hammer. It's a low RoF LMG that for whatever reason, just destroys people when hitting them. It's low RoF enables me to stretch out the Heavy loot drops for quite a few encounters. Witty persuaded me a while back to take a second look at it....I seriously think this is the best LMG in PvP right now.

I have started sharding any purples that I am unlikely to use. Inventory space is more precious. 331 pulse rifle? Shards. Duplicate of anything I already have? Shards. My arsenal has everything I need to play PvE and PvP. I don't need one of each gun (like pulse rifles, and shotguns, and such) if I have primary and special weapons that I will use over them without thought.

The part I am questioning is before you can get your raid weapon to 331, the non raid weapons could be more useful for the initial runs of CsE hard. That's why I am keeping them. I am also working on making all my characters self reliant (if that at all possible) and don't have to go to tower every time. For that to work I'll need at least Fusion Rifle/Sniper Rifle/Rocket Launcher of each damage type for each character. I think Song of Ir Yut has 50 something rounds per mag or even more in default set up. You'll see when you pick up enough purple ammos from the ground.

Song of Ir Yut holds 87 rounds per mag. No idea how Bungie messed up the stat card so bad -- maybe they originally intended it to be a slow ROF high impact weapon, but changed their mind and forgot to update the stat display to match.

But before I shred them (or my extra armor), I am running with that stuff to level it all the way up, so I get max shards upon scrapping. Like I have two characters at 32 now, but I am still running them at level 29, 30, and 31 ....to level up extra gear. I think you can more shards that way.

I was doing that for awhile too, but I have 200 ascendent energies, so it isn't worth my effort to level them up.
