I didn't think there was any level based matchmaking going on in Iron Banner and other than disbanding lobbies based on certain triggers only limited skill based matchmaking.

Your time would really be better spent running strikes for marks, rep, and a small chance at loot. Those tiger strikes just aren't going to drop high light value armor. Not enough to get me to level high 20's. And it's a waste of time trying to ramp up marks, to buy level 31 gear. The starting value of them is level 24. Buying a piece, will not materially affect my overall light level this week. Even I somehow buy four pieces, find a way.....I am still level 24 after getting them. Those pieces are only worth something if I level them up, spending romex wires, which I can't as I am hording those for my Level 32 armor pieces I will get. Unfortunately, the easiest way to do this is just play dirty and cheap, and cherry pick stuff out of IB over the next few days. Sit in corners, read a book, just log some losses. Get close. Then on Friday, buy an Exotic and that then immediately gets me to Level 26 or so. I'm only half nerfed then, and then only need a day to get IB Level 3. Get my 32 piece, with the exotic, I can then solo Crota normal by Sunday. I'll then get an armor piece (or two) hopefully, and be Level 32 by Monday night. I don't want to ruin your plan, but I think you are making some wrong assumptions here. Light lvl and player lvl are not the same thing. Four light 24 pieces will get you to 96 light, which is lvl 27. On the other hand, a single Exotic + one ib piece, combined with low light rare armour will only get you to lvl 26 or so, not nearly enough for crota. Now you can only buy one vanguard piece this week (due to weekly mark caps) but I would strongly advice doing so anyway. Here is why: - Blue armour has higher stat rolls depending on your own lvl, so being lvl 25 ish will drop you rare armour pieces which go up to light 15-18, starting at around 12 I guess. That is not that bad at all! as 11 light will increase your player lvl by one! - Iron banner will be way easier/more fun the higher the lvl - crota normal cannot be done with only one exotic armour + one ib piece and rare armour Now I understand you don't want to waste any sapphire wires, but I still think you need to make one step between lvl 20 and lvl 32, it is just to big a gap to close at once. Although, as the iron banner is around, you might be able to skip that. Also, while saphire wire grinding is anoying, you can put all armour engrams earned with your warlock in your vault. Here is what I would do, if you really want to get to 30+ asap: - Buy the chest armour with vanguard marks (light 24) - Buy an Exotic armour friday (light 30/36) - Get eris gloves (light24, unless your exotic are gloves, obviously) - This will get you to light 88/94. 89 is needed to get to lvl 27, so you can upgrade your exotic a bit to get there. - From there on, you should play some strikes or other content to get your missing armor piece in a high light rare. Which will get you to lvl 28. - At lvl 28, Iron banner is a lot more fun and you will progress allot faster (and you won't be THAT guy draging your team down) Then you can buy iron banner armour and rank them up, which will combined with your chest (and hopefully exotic helmet) make you able to play crota before next weekly reset. Also try to play the weekly three times (lvl 23, 26 AND 30). Normally this is a waste of time, but I have found there is a pretty nice chance to get legendary engrams in them, and getting that chance 3 times is better then once. (although it is a Shitty strike this time around, so maybe only do them if you can find somebody to help you, and spread it out over the week) In the end, the best advice I can give you is not to rush it, you seem to be lvling a hunter because out of boredom, so what's the hurry?

What's the hurry? I'm very goal orientated. Get something in my sights, I like to get it done. Just don't want to fvck around with this, and just get it up finished. I'm not really rushing on it though. Monday? I was off work, so I did grind that one out. But the last two days? I have just played an hour plus both nights. If you play IB smartly, even a Lv22/23 player can get through it fast.
thanks for the thoughts though. Good thoughts. I think what I am trying will work though. It's less work.
My goal is to get into Crota. I think Level 27 is the minimum one can do it. I've helped level 28 players go in before, so it's around that number. Level 27 requires 87 light pieces. My plan is to have by Saturday, an exotic piece (30>36) and IB piece (24>36). By Sunday both pieces should be at least around 33 and 30...so that's 66 light. I currently have Rare armor pieces with around 14 light.
66 + 28 = 84.
I am only 3 light pieces away from Level 27.
One small tweak, get one of my two higher pieces another meter leveled, I will be at Level 27 with not much effort. All I need then is some friends to carry me in the Normal mode, up to Crota. That part should be easy, as Crota normal is stupid easy. Get me to Crota checkpoint, or even finish Crota, that's like three or four drops. I'll get a piece or two of armor doing this.
I then have four Lv 36 pieces...Level 32 Hunter. Done in six days, start to finish.

As far as my IB gimp run, ...I'm now moving along nicely. Level 23 yesterday, got a bunch of pieces to get me to Level 24. I'm using some cheese tactics of 1) finding games in progress to join (1 to 2 min games), 2) racking up quick losses (not even playing, doing other things) and 3) then when I find a winning game, cashing in all my losses. This is very fast, with little to no effort. (I'm also cashing in the free/easy 10k bounty, as well as using all my old Warlock multipliers for additional bonuses)
I'm already level two, about 370 pts towards Level 3 (where I can buy armor). Doing this even though I can't really kill a lot of my opponents.
That said, here's yesterday's action, in some games where I actually played (found a terrible lobby where we won three games in a row) Loving the Hunter and invisibility. Great way to mess with people, especially when it takes forever to kill anyone. But check out the video..i did some impressive shit. Killed TWO level 31 players, while I was defending the flag. Not using a super either. Some beastly gaming on my part, as that wasn't easy to do. (it's the second clip, not the first one)
People might also want to watch this, as XB1 just updated their in-house editor for videos. They added some very cool new features, making video production ridiculously easy. Like it's now only about 5 minutes, start to posting on Youtube...to get it done.

Xur is not helping your cause this week . I was hoping that he will sell a good helmet for you, or Don't Touch Me gauntlet, but the one on sale is Radiant Dance Machine boots. Probably still worth considering for the interesting look, as well as potential usefulness in PvP (for crazy strafing), especially when used together with Mida. Another source of Hunter exotic is to gamble on exotic chest engrams. Unfortunately hunters don't have very good chest pieces either. However, if you are like me and planning to take advantage of this chest engram for a shot at pieces like Heart of Praxic Fire, you'll likely need multiple tries before getting it. There is a very good chance that you can get a hunter chest piece in one of the "failed" attempts. It is equally likely to get a Titan chest too, which could come in handy when someday you want to roll a Titan...

Does anyone know the increase strafing speed is on the Radiant Dance Machine boots? Or is it the Foregrip attachment of Black Ops 2?

Yeah that would be nice to know! also the single point sling weapon mod, is it worth it? Never use it personally, maybe I should in pvp...

Yeah, I bought the Dance Machine boots for my Hunter. They suck, but need exotics for lv 32 and it's not a big deal, I can get more next week. All good.
Get this. I also bought six engrams this morning with my Hunter
I got the 'Crest of Alphi Lumpy'. Again, not great, but now I have two exotic options on my road to Lv 32. Chest and boots. All good.
I also got the Heart of Praxic Fire.

Oh yeah. Also got a Titsn exotic chest piece too, I will save that for later. I already got a Titan legendary as s reward in the Iton Banner. Further ahead on a Titan, and not even working tthat character now. Go figure
My kids are off today, weather issues. I paid my daughrter to play Iron Banner for me. Worked before, and this time she even knows a little. She's grinding for me. I'll be level 3 tonight.

Yeah, I should have three Lv32 pieces by tonight or tomorrow. Might take a day or so to level them, but I'm there.
I should hit level 28 with no leveling of the new stuff. I'll be level 30 once leveled with the above, even with just a Rare helmet. So that's enough to get me into the normal Crota raid. Maybe even carried in the Hard raid.
and GodMars....
Yes ...I got your negative comments the first time you made them. I get it. It sucks what I got. I've already acknowledged that up above and believe it or not, I'm somewhat intelligent enough to know a good from a bad roll. I'm also sure you have better ones and are much better equipped! Props! But for now, I don't give a shit. I'm happy. There's only like ten more weeks until the next DLC, so I have tons of time to get better rolls or better pieces. As it is, I want to collect all of them anyways for a hunter, so with that, I'm happy to start with these two. Two > zero.
Again, my only goal now was to get something, anything, so I can try to raid asap. I wanted to go from "new character' to 'Raiding' in less than a week. I'm still on track.
Quit shitting on my new character energy dammit!!!!

GodMars: if I were you I would have kept the piece of bad roll. Having even a crappy one is better than nothing because of the possibility of upgrade. Also, 160+ piece might look great now, but they will become nothing when HoW came out and we are getting to higher light levels and desire higher stats roll. Upgrade is needed sooner or later.
The Heart of PF I got have a terrible role at 133, I am still very happy to have it considering that it was never on sale.

Not a huge deal. Examnple. Last night, when we did the Crota hard run. I was the only one to survive the Abyss section with our group, and I ended up soloing it for us. I do this by swapping in my Sunbreaker exotic gloves. It gives solar grenades a +3 sec on their duration, so they now last 8 seconds (rather than 5) So with two of them, that's always enough time to get the darkness cooldown at lamps. Toss one, stand in the middle of it, the thrall won't touch you. They freeze. Makes solo'ing pretty easy with double solars. 8 seconds is forever. Both my warlocks have this setup. One with a high roll Sunbreakers, the one I used last night, has the shitty roll gloves. I did the above with the shitty roll, no problem. The actual TIME difference the actual rolls make is just stupid insignificant. It means my double grenade cooldown is like maybe 1 or 2 second slower. If that. Again, bad stat roll? Pretty much meaningless.

Unless you NEED to be wearing these to hit level 32, you don't want to use these. Yeah but I am wondering the exact movement increase whilst strafing. Unless it's astronomical I don't see it worth using anyway but it would be nice to throw players off in PvP with the radar working how it is. Achlyophage Symbiote and Knucklehead Radar are the only two Hunter exotics I'd use. I find the strafing speed a bit slow in PvP and, for a game that promotes run and gunning, it's a bit odd. I have Lucky Raspberry but I got that in case the exotic upgrades policy remain with House of Wolves to make ranking up less tenuous. I'd buy the MIDA Multi-tool from Xur if Radiance Dance machines provided enough strafing speed and they stacked so I could compete against Vex and Suros users better.

I have the dance machines, when i get them leveled, i'll measure the difference. And then do it with the MIDA. Give me a few days.
right now....only like 1,090 points away from IB Level Four. I'm at level 28 too, so it's getting a bit easier to kill people. Lv32 are still hard, as well as Lv31's to a degree...but i'm almost there. I should be level 31 by Monday evening. Give me one shot at Crota this week.
Anyone playing tonight, please hit me up. I'm heading to a grappling tournament i'm doing right now...but will be back hopefully around 7pm ET.

If you put the MIDA on, you'll reduce your time by another 10%. video below shows it in real time. Whether this is significant, i have no clue. It's certainly not bad. (edit - the beauty of what is essentially 'STALKER PRO' from CoD, is that its there for you every freaking second, the entire time you are in a game. PvE? Blah. But for PvP, most other perks on Exotics are situational. They give something that is useful, a few times here and there. This Stalker Pro perk is useful 100% of the time. That cannot be discounted.)

Level 29 now.
Immediately went to the Crota raid. First attempt at the Abyss section, perfect legit solo run!!! No cheesing.
Juggled my 10 sec kneeling vanish, with my 10 second blink-strike vanish, with super vanish too. Got to the rock, nailed the Ogre, and then right to the finish.
Unfortunately....my plans on getting Raid gear didn't materialize. Have to figure out the Bridge, Hallway and DeathSinger sections now, while level 29.

Nice! I'm assuming you did normal mode since it sounds like you killed the Ogre? I'm planning on being on quite a while tomorrow so I can try to help out with the other parts on normal, plus we could get through the first two parts on hard no problem.

Thanks.
Yeah, normal.
Post jumped in later with me, we have a Crota checkpoint. I did end up getting a pair of boots at the death singer, so i am a solid level 30. Just missing a helmet. Not sure if i can get that at the finish, or a hard run later? Maybe. If not, I think that's going to be end of things for me, as i am capped out on Vanguard and Crucible marks till Tuesday. Can't get any higher this week.
Post and I also got to level 4 on IB tonight. So that's wrapped up too. I can help out tomorrow if someone else needs some help.

And that's a wrap!
My quest got a huge lucky break Sunday night. My last gameplay was a Crota 'Hard' checkpoint. Lady luck would visit me, and after a successful run, lo and behold, a Raid helmet dropped down on me. Bingo. I got my fourth (and last) Lv 36 armor piece. i would cash some bounties saved up a minutes later, and i'm at Level 32.
My 7 day quest is finished. Going from a brand new, start at zero character, all the way up to level 32 in one week. Mission accomplished.
I also wrapped up some IB gaming today, getting myself to level five. That's another story in and by itself. A full week's worth of on and off again IB play, mostly at low levels. Not always easy, working with 20% to 90% nerfs on my damage/armor all week!!! Started it at lv 22, and my last game was around 29 or 30. I did get some fun highlights, which i captured in my IB wrap up video!!1

I would consider a 'cheese' to be like using the mechanics of the lamp launch. Or using the bounderies of the map on the bridge section, both which trick the game into thinking you are dead. Using solar grenades, bubbles of light, or invisibility to buy yourself time on a solo Abyss sprint run....NO cheese. All three characters are using features of your character. Playing the game as intended. The thrall do keep chasing the entire time. You are just playing smart to stay alive. And legit. (although that said, i have no issues with cheesing) Also, when you run there solo move as a Hunter....you aren't hiding on the rock per se at the very end. They follow you up to the Ogre rock. The invisibility just buys you time. But honestly, that's the easiest part once you are there, the hard part is over.
