Let me see if I understand this correctly - it's not new actual content, correct? It's just going to be timed challenges?

Based on limited reading I did, looks like this is the famiilar "challenges" concept, expanded for Clan, with a time limit.
If that's the case: not sure if "raid" is the right phrase for this because it is a totally different animal from what "raid" means in cooperative world, but it is definitely catchy.
It's a solid addition to the clan related activities, providing an alternative way for players to make contributions to their clan. As it stands today: Clan War is too restrictive from timing point of view, especially for Diamond clans.

Yay another thing to ignore... heh I think I'm about as pessimistic and cynical of modern CoD as IW5K is of Destiny... It's just not relevant to me right now... because my experience playing AW was only moderately fun and not satisfying at all. So I probably still won't play it for another six months or so... Maybe I should grind through SP and sell it...

Maybe I should grind through SP and sell it... I would hardly call myself pessimistic with Destiny. I am open about my likes and dislikes. Either way, I just have no issues with calling out Bungie for dumb sh1t. I'm not one of their fanboys and let's be honest here, Bungie sure opens the door for being called out on stuff they do. And if you are referring to my recent posts about how DLC has split the community....how's that pessimistic? I'm actually the one advocating more fun options for play. I'm not the guy who is saying that non-DLC buyers can go fvck off, as they were to cheap to buy stuff. I'm on the player side there. I think they had part of their game stolen away. I stand by that. And i think it would be good to get more people playing this game, so why not open up the Raids to public matchmaking. Hardly being pessimistic there. Anyways....thats great you hate AW. Good for you. But i put this up because it might be interesting to compare how the two games handle raids. If all you are going to do is rip it, start your own thread.

Pessimistic about the state of the current game and about the people responsible.
You see both Destiny and Bungie in a far less favorable light than I do. Personally I see a few problems with Destiny, but nothing that outright offends me as Bungie appears to offend you. In my opinion Destiny is a pretty good game with some honest flaws and I honestly do believe Bungie has good intentions. Not saying they are saints, they are a company which has to make profits, but in the vast, wretched sea of developers out there... Bungie is fairly benign by comparison. Mileage may vary...
I also don't consider myself a fanboy. I don't believe that Bungie can do no wrong. I just think that most of the anti-Bungie stuff is overblown.
As for CoD I couldn't really care less about clan stuff and find AW largely tedious due to the spawns. I feel like the whole series is just kinda meh now, and I'm not tempted to play with the majority of the sort of people that play it. (People like us on these baords are still a minority in the CoD community.)

Doesn't offend me, i bought the DLC (obviously, as i have tons of posts about Crota) But i do think non-DLC players got screwed. To repeat myself for the 20th time....i've never EVER seen a console game DLC come out, and actually remove something players actually had before. Bungie did this. It kind of blows my mind when i think about it, Bungie's hubris. Then again, shame on me for being surprised at this point. This is the same company that took a game to market, with the entire plot gutted out. Why am i surprised lol?
Keep the above to the other thread. This one is for comparing and contrasting the raid stuff.

wow. This isn't a raid. Sorry. Might be a good fun concept for people interested in CoD:AW, but they gave it a very sneaky name to try to pull people back.

I would have chosen the phrase "Quest" (or "Conquest") instead of "Raid" to describe this new concept. Beachhead's current setup does have some similarities to the "quest line" in Destiny, like the Eris one.

I can't remember which - might have been all - but Halo 3 did in mp. Not sure, but didn't ranked playlists only became accessible if you had the DLC - If you didn't - you had to make do with social?

Sounds familiar. Thought I read the same a while back on Reddit. So at least anyone defending this practice (nobody on here) can't blame Activision and claim it's nothing to do with Bungie then because they have done it before. I haven't played much Halo as I always preferred third person shooters so this was news to me.

Ok. Unlike others who are offering opinions without playing it....I actually played this 'Raid' the last two nights.
I would love to say that i enjoyed the hell out of this.....
...but i can't.
One. The 'Raid' does not use the in-console system. It has to go through the BeachHead Studios CoD App. There's problem one. It took me like forever to update the app on Tuesday, to finally get the raid stuff to load properly. That sucked. Two. I felt like one needed a PhD in Applied Math to understand what the hell was going on in the app. It's confusing. I never did figure out what we actually did.The best i can tell, there are different levels to advance on, but the app wasn't tracking things well, so i really couldn't get the jist of what was going on with that. All i know is we needed to win 'x' number of games in 'y' minutes, with certain people, but my app wasn't updating correctly and it kept showing the wrong clan members playing. A real clusterfvck. We ultimately did achieve some type of 'Raid Goal', but honestly, i'm not even sure what we did. The app flashed something, and then that was that. There was no real jubilation or happy feeling like knocking off a Crota. It was just more like a "Oh, ok, the app updated, i guess we did something?" Blah. Our clan did get something like 25,000 XP or something, but that's about as exciting as ..well, leave it at that. Blah.
I have no clue what one would call this. Definitely not a Raid. What if feels most like is a desperate attempt by SledgeHammer to try and get more people back to CoD. And i can say with 100% confidence, unless something drastic happens (like giving beer for Raid prizes), this will end up a total flop.
I feel bad saying that. Felix Gallo, one of the head guys at BeachHead, actually talks (on Twitter) to a number of our clan members and is quite friendly with us. I felt bad tweeting some of the negative stuff the other night, as Felix replied back to a couple of posts, and seemed actually hurt. I felt bad talking up the negatives. I know the BeachHead guys worked hard to get this out. But it is what it is....something that is hard to understand, not a raid, and plays inside of an app that just doesn't work
Kind of sad.
