Until they take it away, like they did with Inferno.

They did say it's temporary, which is unfortunate. I never even got to play inferno.

It was horrible if you ask me. Imagine the clusterfuck 6v6 is, and multiply by 10.

I am intrigued by Trials of Osiris and want to eventually get into it. However, before August I have very limited time to party up, so finding friends to play ToO is out of the question until then. In the mean time I would like to get some practice via matchmaking enabled playlists. A few questions:
1) Besides this Elimination game mode, what other playlists are good? I imagine Skirmish is a pretty good one? Maybe Salvage as well?
2) Regarding maps, does ToO have its own unique set of maps that don't ever appear in other play lists?
3) When playing regular crucible playlists like Control or Clash, what skills should I focus on improving? I imagine sniping is one of them?

1. Skirmish is easily the best for practicing in a 3v3 "competitive" team setting.
2. No, though it did include all 3 new HoW maps. So you might want to hang out in the HoW playlist to get a feel for those.
3. All kinds of things. Sniping, positional awareness and proper positioning on the map, baiting enemies into doing what you want them to do, lane control and zoning, grenade usage, spawn anticipation, blink jumping, Titan "fast lift" movements, accuracy with primaries, etc.

Radar is still enabled in ToO, right?

Radar is still enabled in ToO, right? Correctomundo. Do people then try to butt-scoot around more, to flank, but yet stay off the radar? as an aside...I actually don't know what the mechanics of bootscooting are. When you crouch, you go off the radar. But for how long? I've never understood this completely. It says in the rules like occasionally. What does that mean? If I crouch, do I stay off for a few seconds? Longer?

When a player is crouching, his red dot will "pulse" on enemy player's radar, in a ~ 3 seconds (? not sure about this) cycle.

No. You still ping on radar every 3 seconds when crouched, so the other team would be able to see your "butt scoot" flanking move coming a mile away.

Elimination was removed I thought. The idea of having a practice playlist for Trials is literally foreign to me ~ Luke Smith.

FYI: Destiny Tracker just reported on Twitter that Elimination became available today:
I have not had a chance to check myself. Also don't know how long it will stay available (1 day? 1 week?).
IMHO Bungie really should figure out a way to make this playlist "semi" permanent. For example: when ToO is active, offer this playlist as a "meetup" ground for players to find teammates to play trials together.
Alternatively (maybe this is the better way because it can have the HoW maps and level advantage enabled): add a matchmaking enabled variant of ToO that don't offer rewards.

So less than a day? LOL. That might have been a dig at their availability. The fact that it's not permanent is laughable really.

Played a single elimination game last night at the end of my Crucible bounty run (had to first complete 5 Control games and that took the most of my play time) and it is interesting, the elimination aspect definitely makes the mode more competitive than other Crucible game modes like Control / Clash / Skirmish. Have high demand on communication (which is none in the matchmaking game I played), team work, and 1 on 1 encounter management. When 2 competent teams face each other, strategy can play a huge role as well.

On a related note: trials map history can be found at destinytracker.com/destiny/trials-of-osiris-historySo far 6 maps are in rotation (this is most likely the full list): The Cauldron The Burning Shrine Pantheon And the 3 HoW maps (only available in HoW play lists, so won't be playable in Elimination playlist): Black Shield Thieve's Den Widow's Court What Bungie has to say about ToO maps:

After TTK is dropped, elimination is now part of core playlists. Yay!
During the period when Trials is active, elimination is only playable in Trials playlist.
