I tested the map load times with shader preload turned off and on in some private Domination maps.
I started my stop watch as soon as I saw the map listed that was loading and stopped it as soon as the option to choose a team was available.
For the exo zombies maps I stopped the timer as soon as you could move your character.
Times listed are minutes and seconds.
Map - Shader Preload Off - Shader Preload On
Ascend - 0:13 - 0:43
Bio Lab - 0:13 - 0:34
Comeback - 0:9 - 0:13
Defender - 0:24 - 1:43
Detroit - 0:10 - 0:13
Greenband - 0:9 - 0:12
Horizon - 0:17 - 0:39
Instinct - 0:20 - 1:06
Recovery - 0:19 - 1:07
Retreat - 0:14 - 0:28
Riot - 0:20 - 0:53
Solar - 0:10 - 0:12
Terrace - 0:10 - 0:12
DLC Maps:
Atlas Gorge - 0:16 - 0:48
Core - 0:10 - 0:14
Drift - 0:22 - 1:20
Sideshow - 0:12 - 0:16
Urban - 0:17 - 0:57
Site 244 - 0:11 - 0:17
Climate - 0:10 - 0:16
Perplex - 0:12 - 0:19
Chop Shop - 0:14 - 0:19
Compound - 0:11 - 0:14
Kremlin - 0:14 - 0:22
Parliament - 0:14 - 0:18
Skyrise - 0:14 - 0:22
Exo Zombies Outbreak - 0:27 - 1:59
Exo Zombies Infection - 0:20 - 0:35
Exo Zombies Carrier - 0:42 - 3:03
The maps stutter at the beginning with shader preload turned off. If you look at the difference between the times with preload off and on that's about how long they will stutter at the beginning.
The load times were no different with 8 or 16 GB RAM or with the lowest or highest quality graphics settings.
My system has an Asus Z87-A motherboard, Intel I5 4670K CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM DDR3 1600, ASUS R9 290X DirectCU II OC.
My friends load times on his GTX 980 are a bit faster but that might be due to his Samsung EVO SSD loading faster then my ADATA SX900.
Is there any chance Activision has any plans to improve the load times, on the maps that take longer then 30 seconds with preload turned on?
You are my bro, bro.
