Any secret benefit to doing the fresh restart?

In this article it points that there is a fresh start option. I was wondering if anyone knew if maybe there are things you need to do (for example, do 1 fresh start to unlock hero armor or something) and then prestige to max cap.

Was just trying to see if anyone had any idea because it'd be nice to know that I would need to do a fresh start on my first prestige if it was mandatory for anything.

The dark ops challenges are named that because they're not a part of the regular challenges. Meaning completing dark ops challenges doesn't count towards your "??% challenges completed"

Also, i don't think theres a menu to access the dark ops challenges directly. But i do know you can unlock them whenever. A friend of mine got a nuclear challenge/calling card and another got a super kill calling card.

According to reddit, fresh restart restarts your dark ops challenges. So don't try to do anything until you get that

Yeah, doing a fresh start gives you a calling card.

You won't get a notification of it, but you'll get it. This will, or should, probably be your first accomplished Dark Ops challenge. If you decide on giving up everything except what you get in your supply drops, it's best to do this as early as possible.
