I am curious how much it actually changes the hipfire spread. It hardly seems noticeable.
I have been trying to figure out what attachments will actually be useful for guns and it seems like it boils down to an optional optic, then just rapid fire (if a burst or sniper) and fast mags/ extended mag.
Grip doesn't matter thanks to the awful design of random recoil spreads. Seriously screws over competitive when one spray can be tiny amounts of recoil and the next it shoots off to Narnia.
Maybe quick draw will be an option.
Also for AR's it seems like the m8a7 seems amongst the strongest. SMG's I dislike the VMP's recoil, but the rest of it is solid. Vesper is good with the rate of fire, but you end up wasting several bullets on each kill to make multi kills difficult.

Seems to me like it's the same as BO2, which varied depending on the class somewhat but was always useful.
It's not like AW where it barely did anything.

Is it something shotguns can actually benefit from?

Is it something shotguns can actually benefit from? If you are accurate with shotguns, then definitely. It makes them less forgiving in terms of how off target you can be and still hit or kill them, but it makes the damage much more consistent.

No testing, but 1 day and 13 hours of gameplay in the books and laser sight feels good on SMG's, useless on AR's, and good on shotguns.
All of that could be wrong when we see the data... but that's how it feels.

I think the M8A7 got a hip fire nerf at some point, Laser seems to cut its spread down by half at the moment.

Laser SMGs are good for sure. Not sure if there's an amazing hipfire gun though. Vesper seems best.. I guess VMP had better hipfire before its nerf? I would like to see a gun designed a bit more around being hipfire. It's probably my favorite way to play but you mostly have to hipfire into ADS.

Yes, according to the patch notes the VMP's hipfire was nerfed to make it equal with the other SMGs.

Is it something shotguns can actually benefit from? No. Lazor only hurts shotguns in my eyes. Makes them harder to hipfire within the range lazor doesn't matter and you might as well ADS in the range it does matter in. Just ADS with stock if you want tight spreads.

They take away the one unique strength of a gun to make it feel the same as any other gun instead of nerfing a different part of the weapon to balance out the strength. Why have another BO1 where every gun is a copy-paste job?

It's still the 2nd or 3rd best SMG behind the Vesper and/or Pharo.
And don't compare these weapons to the Black Ops 1 "We only have 2 rates of fire on ARs and SMGs." The BO3 weapons are way more unique, even more so than the BO2 weapons IMO.

Wall tested the laser on SMGs, and there is a clear and consistent improvement with it.
