I wanted to discuss classes that have been seen or we predict will be seen for the competitive scene.
I will assume that Dead Silence will likely be a banned perk. That way noone will be forced to run awareness.
AR's seem like M8A7 or XR-2 will be the go to weapons.
SMG seem like Vesper thanks to it's crazy rate of fire, likely with fast mags.
I have browsed the attachment stats but don't know if the red dots or other sites dramatically reduce the sway for any guns iron sights.
I realize competitive will have a lot of different game modes. Just looking for what seem to be universally good.
Tier 3 perk tactical mask
Tier 2 perk, fast hands

Not sure how anyone still thinks this game is competitive but I guess we can discuss it.
I think you mixed up Awareness and Dead Silence there.
So far the M8's getting banned in most every match and in lieu of it people have started using either the XR-2 (which also gets banned a lot) or ICR-1. The M8's likely going to take a nerf too. After the last patch it's fairly clear that most of the community consider it OP.
Once again, Vesper gets banned a lot so people are using the Pharo instead. Which is a good choice. It can compete with ARs far better than the Vesper or VMP.
Most pros are using the ELO since it provides the clearest sight picture. Haven't seen anyone with anything else as far as optics go. For the attachments, we're likely to see the classic Quickdraw and Grip a lot. Fast Mags or Extended will probably be used. Not at the same time though. The choice will depend on the gun. Most people will probably choose Extended though. That's the way it's always been. Stock will go down to personal preference, most people are probably going to run it though, especially on ARs (even though SMGs are where it really shines). People are going to use the Long Barrel on ARs if they haven't started already. I doubt they haven't. High Caliber may also be an option but any sane player would only run that on the M8. That's the only gun that has the recoil pattern to support it. Well, that and maybe (but not really; too bouncy) the MOW but no one uses that thing anymore.
Perks are probably going to be any combo of Overclock, Flak Jacket, Fast Hands, Hard-Wired, Tracker, Awareness, Dead-Silence, and Tac Mask. I think this game's going to be pretty perk heavy since there are very few attachments that actually do anything significant. The only attachments that should really ever be used are Extended Mags, Quickdraw, Stock, Long Barrel (Only on long range maps), and High Caliber (Only on the M8). Maybe the ELO if for some reason they simply can't use the irons.

Only reason "this game is competitive" is because they will shell out hundreds of thousands if not millions for their world tournament.
When you are backed by a ton of money anything can be competitive for the right price.

XR-2 > M8a7 Pharo > Vesper
Awareness is probably going to be banned. Run High Caliber on every AR, it's bae. I know pros have been using the ICR but that thing sucks lol. It's like how how pros used the Bal in AW. The ICR might be super good with High Caliber because of the low recoil but I haven't tried it yet. They should also be using the Dredge.

A more accurate comparison would be the R5 in Ghosts being the #1 gun in MLG. MLG meta is 6 guys Mind Bulletsing shooting at another 6 guys Mind Bulletsing.

That's the point of the P&B system.
As of now, the only real "crutch" perk I've seen/experienced is fast hands. That will be on just about every class. Tac Mask will be role/mode dependent. I doubt we see it much in search. I also doubt the anchors/ARs will run it much in respawn. I wonder if we see much afterburner for the SMG guys. It's quite useful.
M8 is the go-to AR. Hands down. Guys have been experimenting with the others quite a bit in case the M8 is banned (which is a thumbs up to the P&B system; it's forcing meta changes on the fly). The SMGs are a bit varied. Seeing some Pharo. Lots of Vesper. A bit of VMP still.
This stuff will start shaping up soon with World League starting this weekend.
Here's the (un)official ruleset so far for League.

I would guess that Sixth Sense, Tracker and Awareness will either get universal banned or a "gentlemen's agreement" will be reached where they won't be used by top pro teams. Ghost also won't see much use because of the UAV ban. Same with Hardwired; No one uses EMPs except to check in SnD (which Hardwired doesn't prevent) and without Sixth Sense or Tracker, there will be no reason to use it.
M8A7 and the VMP will be the most commonly used weapons. Sheiva, Vesper and Pharo are commonly banned unless a team has a player who is very good with one of them e.g. Clayster with Sheiva or Scumpii with Vesper.
The most common setups I see on the M8 are ELO/Reflex + Quickdraw, Stock and Long Barrel, with Rapid Fire and High Caliber occasionally mixed in.
With VMP, I see Quickdraw, Grip and Long-Barrel without an optic. I see Scumpii and TeePee both use this setup. The benefits of long barrel are dubious and I wonder if there will be a transition to Stock or Laser Sight in the future.
The mainstays of every class are Fast Hands and Blast Suppressor, for good obvious reasons.
Hardpoint: -You'll see a lot of Flak Jacket and Tac Mask. -Double trophies are also common. -Obviously there's tons of Frags, Semtexes and Concussions flooding the Hardpoint.
CTF/Uplink: -Afterburner is obviously popular. -Concussions to slow down flag/ball carriers.
Search and Destroy: -Dead Silence is very common although not completely necessary. Will see a lot of Perk 3 Greed. -Flak Jacket and Tac Mask are again common to improve survivability. -Thermal Snipers show up, often overkilled with a VMP unless LCAR isn't banned. SVG-100 is the popular choice, Locus is too inconsistent sometimes. Haven't really seen the Drakon used much. Actually saw Scump pull out the P-06 and actually got a kill with it.

LOL, Scump with the P-06. That was funny.
Speaking to your dead silence point, I've seen a lot of guys not using it in scrims in SnD. I have no idea why. Crim wasn't using it at all last night when they were scrimming CoL.

Looks like it didn't change from Vondy's post on Reddit. Interesting. Lots of backlash from people arguing that shock charges/c4/etc aren't "competitive". While I agree, I think the P&B system more than makes up for it and allows an ever-changing meta. Part of me hopes the pros embrace it and play it straight, but I'm fairly certain we'll see lots of gentlemen's agreements to keep those "types" of things out of the game. Twitter is already full of guys crying about P&B's during scrims; I hope that carries through into this weekend.

I agree, I think gentlemen's agreements are pretty dumb

Not that I am a "competitive" player but when I tried (one single game) of Arena, the 3 minutes or so of voting prior to each match is seriously hard to sit through. I admire your guys' dedication if you actually sit through that.

The juice is worth the squeeze to me. I like the 4v4 game modes. I like the competition. I will say that it's MUCH more fun with a team of 4. Playing solo can be frustrating when people quit.
