With the Kuda's potential 3 shot kill and the VMP's quick rate of fire, it's no surprise that these are both popular weapons in Black Ops 3.
But, how do they compared when stacked up against each other? I attempt to answer that question below:
If you don't have time to watch the video, I came to the general consensus that:
1) The Kuda checks more boxes statistically. It's fewer shots to kill, better range, and controllable recoil make it a good choice for players who want a consistent weapon out to middle range.
2) The VMP is still a viable choice. Though it's much less useful at longer ranges, it's higher rate of fire will reward those who can keep the weapon in it's intended range.
Which SMG do you prefer?

Pharo. Best TTK at SMG ranges, and being burst with low recoil makes it able to hit your target at longer ranges.

Pharo > Vesper > rest
cool video though, even though I don't agree with the conclusion

I don't know why, but I like the Kuda better than any other SMG. I have a higher K/D with the Pharo but the Kuda feels better.

I don't know why people think the VMP is so great. Pharo and Vesper are definitely better. The Kuda is alright but I think it needs an actual 3HK range.

I used the the VMP a lot on launch, but after they nerfed hipfire and ads (unnecessarily?), I've moved a bit more towards the Kuda. I agree that it could use a couple extra meters in it's 3hk range.

It's not the best at anything but very good at everything. In a vacuum it's not going to beat the Vesper in CQC but it's not that far behind, and it's a full auto so easier to use (despite the auto burst) than the Pharo.

I like VMP better than Vesper because I can spray two people down before (fast) reloading whereas Vesper it's spray down one before (slow) reloading. Kuda feels like a tweener, I don't love it, but I haven't used it *that* much. Pharo has been pretty good from what I've used of it. I need to run it for a few hours in FFA to get a better feel for it though. Weevil felt like trash, barely used it. I don't think I've touched Razorback since beta.

Pharo and Kuda contend for the top spot
VMP is in the next tier..
Have yet to experiment with the Vesper yet..
After playing with the Pharo for a while then switching over to the Kuda... holy shit, I was shredding everything

After getting diamond SMGs, my ranks are:
VMP Pharo Vesper Razorback Weevil Kuda
I like the higher ROF with the VMP. It "feels" like the MP7, which I loved, and kills very quick. The Pharo is insane. I think it will take over the top spot eventually. The Vesper reminds me of the Scorpion. I love it for HP when I'm in the hill. It melts. But I'm not very consistent with it at range. The Razorback shoots slow, but packs a punch. The Weevil is a hit marker machine. The headshots were a pain and I actually had to resort to playing HC to get it done. The Kuda is my least favorite. I can't quantify/qualify why. It just sucks. Hitmarkers everywhere, slow ROF, no range. It has no redeeming qualities for me.
So yeah, that's my opinion.

Maybe slide the Razorback down just a little though (but not sure where, as I haven't really liked the two guns below it either)

I kind of like the Razorback, I feel like it is basically a more accurate and deadlier Kuda. I would rank it similar to the above, maybe a tie with the Vesper. The Vesper needs extended mags to really shine in my opinion, which brings it down a peg to me. I like the Pharo the best though.
I keep trying to like the Kuda and I keep failing.

I like the Razorback too. It feels like an SMG version of the MoW.

Solid point. I use extended mags on most SMGs. VMP and Vesper need it for sure. I hadn't thought of that as a reason to move them down until you said it. Yeah, mag size/ROF combo is definitely a negative with those two guns.

Might as well bring this up as this is a thread concerning SMGS..
Mainly use the Pharo and Kuda.
Outside Extended Mags, having a hard time finding worthy attachments..
Honestly don't notice a difference when using Quick Draw or Long Barrel..
Starting to experiment with Laser Sight, and finding it makes a big difference, especially those close quarters engagements when you dont have time to ADS

Quickdraw is my crutch attachment. That quicker ADS time, even just a .35 multiplier on SMGs makes a difference for me.

Starting to experiment with Laser Sight, and finding it makes a big difference, especially those close quarters engagements when you dont have time to ADS Personally I prefer Fast Mags to Extended in pubs so that rather than just having a larger magazine, the reload becomes so fast that you practically have an unlimited stream of ammo. There are a few guns (mainly the Vesper) that I'll run both on though. One attachment for SMGs specifically that I would highly recommend is Stock. It sounds weird but it increases your movement speed by a lot and makes you very hard to hit, as well as giving you extreme mobility while ADS'd. You actually move faster than regular walking speed while ADS'd if I'm not mistaken. I don't consider Quickdraw or Long Barrel too necessary or even noticeable enough to use the class slots for. Some people prefer to have Quickdraw because it gives them a better feel for the weapon. I don't see much of a reason to run Long Barrel at all though. At least on anything besides ARs. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Laser is my go to on most SMG's. If I don't run an optic or I just have the space I'll also usually do quickdraw.

In its current form it's terrible. It might have no recoil but I have more joy with the HVK at literally every range imaginable :/

I've barely used the Kuda past getting it to max level, while the VMP is my most used weapon with 3 times as many kills as the Pharo, my next most used weapon and new favourite.
I'll use the Pharo on any map, but if I'm struggling on a poor connection or getting outgunned too much up close I'll use a VMP class with Fast Hands.
I'll use anything out of suppressor, rapid fire, grip, fast mags and long barrel on the Pharo, and for my VMP class I'll run suppressor and grip since it reminds me a lot of the BO2 MP7 (which I used with suppressor and fast mags). If I get into a lobby with nade spam-dependent fairies I'll run Flak/Tac, Fast Hands, and grip + quickdraw on the VMP as my "sweat" class. Grip has worked its way in and out of my Pharo class because I get more out of the suppressor or rapid fire, but it stays on my VMP class. I'm guessing it's a high viewkick weapon because the difference in performance is noticeable.
Both weapons are surprisingly reliable at most ranges if you can aim outside of aim assist ranges.

Pretty amazing how so many people are using so many different combinations and types. The Pharo is definitely the front runner, but after that, it's a wide mix of gun using.

People use FMJ because they see the green bar extend on the damage stat. In fact, this has become my standard of measuring one's CoD intellect because using an attachment in a pick 10 system strictly to wallbang, a mechanic which is already inconsistent as hell, is just silly.

Personally, Quickdraw is my go-to for everything if I'm not using Fast Hands. Gotta compensate that crutch, man.

I also use grip on all weapons, ~7% accuracy is better than nothin. People use FMJ because they see the green bar extend on the damage stat. Lol I giggle when I see YouTube videos that reference the in game stat bars. I've had friends in a party argue with me referencing the stat bars as proof and proceed to go 5/21 and rage quit to play zombies.

I'll second that notion, if only because the Drakon shat on everything as is.
