I didn't see anyone discussing this, and I also have a hard time translating the gun damage distances into in-game distances, so I tested Blops3 throwing distances in private matches. I found the tripmine, semtex, grenade, and stun grenade all have the same throwing distance. I didn't test the others, but I assume that the other throwing weapons besides C4 and Axe all behave similarly. A grenade will roll forward for additional distance, and a semtex will explode just before the ground at the maximum distance. Maximal throwing distance is achieved at a ~45 degree angle as would be expected. My unit of measurement was walking steps. I need help translating walking steps into meters or inches or whatever so comparison might be made with gun damage ranges. I saw it mentioned here that 3 walking steps ~ 1 m. I think 3 walking steps is closer to 2-3 meters by my eye (see the standing still versus walking forward comparison below). Except for the standing still versus walking forward example, all images are taken from where the grenade was thrown. Results: Standing still -- 16 steps Walking forward -- 19 steps C4 @ 45 degrees - 7 steps C4 @ 0 degrees - 3 steps Throwing axe (not pictured) - somewhere around 200% of grenade distance. Standing still, a tripmine can be thrown 16 steps away: Walking forward and throwing increases this distance by approximately 3 steps: A C4 thrown at a 45 degree angle is 7 walking steps. C4 thrown while looking straight ahead is 3 steps: The following are a few examples of maximum grenade distances. View images full size to see the thrown tripmines more clearly. Avatar position is against the walls.

Hey, I guess this wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be.
I'll add that being prone or crouching only reduces throwing distance by an amount resulting from being at a lowered height. When prone, I think you can aim up to 45 degrees or so upward.
But for my own edification, can someone give me a conversion factor for converting walking steps into meters or inches (units)? It seems by the way that the number of steps you hear is consistent with a fixed distance traveled, no matter if you are slow walking, fasting walking, or sprinting.

I thought it was quite interesting, and am glad to see optimal C4 range, and its pretty sad lol.
What about jumping as you throw it though? I do this constantly and it feels like it helps. Sprinting forward then throwing the grenade (or whatever) as i jump at approx 45 degrees. Not sure if it can be accurately measured though.
Maybe throw a grenade while against a low wall, then try the same thing but sprinting and jumping against the wall?

I think it follows a physical model since we have evidence that walking forward and standing (compared to crouching) increases the distance. So if you jump, it's as if you released the grenade from that height.

One more update:
I came across a Youtube video that tests long barrel on SMGs. The narration is a little stilted but the important thing is that he shows in-game testing comparing 5 shot kill ranges of the smgs. For example the VMP 5 shot range is 25 m, which is from B-dom on Fringe to in front of yellow barrel of "L-wall" (toward white house).
I need to go confirm, but the throwing distance seems similar to the VMP/Weevil range, so I'd say the throwing distance 25-30 m.
5:00 for the VMP testing.
On long barrel, the conclusion is that it's pretty useless except for maybe the VMP.
